I'm not really a baseball guy..why wouldn't maddux rep the braves? I know he started elsewhere, and ended elsewhere, but I mean everyone will always associate him with the braves. Is it just out of respect for the other teams he played for?

My guess is he wanted to keep his Cubs fans happy.

Could be related to his wanting to manage a team.

Dumb. Maddux had all of his best years and won a championship with the Braves. No one thinks about him as a Cub. Don't understand this at all.

Little bit of a slap in the face, me thinks, but it's his choice.

He accomplished everything notable in his career with the Braves (75% of his wins, World Series title, NL titles, Cy Young Awards, etc), but whatever.

I think he slighted us more by not having a Braves logo more than he would have slighted the Cubs fans having chosen the Braves.

I don't how I would describe my feelings on this. I'm not angry, I can't say I blame him, but it just sucks.

I get it. It sucks, but I get it.

He's probably a Cub at heart, regardless of how long he spent in Atlanta. He probably thought it was best to not have a logo than to put either Cubs or Braves up there.

Not only that but he has a huge fanbase here in Atlanta. Some would even list him as an all time favorite. I don't agree with his choice but I still support him.

"I spent half my career in Chicago and half my career in Atlanta," Maddux said Thursday after working with some of the Texas Rangers' prospects at a winter camp in Arlington, Texas. "I came up a Cub. I played there for six years (and) went back for six more. I was in Atlanta for 11 years. So it comes out to about the same amount of time in both cities. I love both places.

"Obviously, I feel like I had more success as a Brave. We did get a World Series there. But I kind of came up a Cub. For me, I couldn't pick. I really couldn't. Both places mean so much to me personally, to my family. I couldn't pick. So I'm going to go in neutral, I guess."

I get it but I am still disappointed

I thought he started as a cub for a few years then went to atlanta and never went back to chicago. I didn't realize he spent 12 years there.

I don't blame him for his reasoning.
