No. I am right. Stop being a troll.

Just kidding, I corrected it.

Recruiting articles are always amazingly biased. People try to sell HS kids and their families using whatever propaganda they can. This isn't new. Mark Richt plays it straight up with these kids, and that makes him a target for a lot of cutthroat programs. It's unfortunate but it's been that way forever. I expect to see a lot of negative recruiting over the next year as teams everywhere try to convince Eason that UGA is not the place to be.

That article was also laughingly slanted. Written by Ohio State for Ohio State.

Oh yeah, the writer has CUM all over him.

And Boulware seems amazingly entitled and classless.

Real classy kid taking a pic with Mr. Richt in his UT shirt and then posting it on twitter saying "Caption This"

Regardless, the article is mostly pro OSU B.S. We may be having one of the best recruiting years in the school's history and the article strongly suggests we are sleeping on the state's best prospects.

Well, we are losing some. I would sure love to have the top 3 OL but stuff happens. And we're still killing it on the trail.

Losing out on some of the top kids in the state is one thing (this happens to us virtually every year, unfortunately), insinuating it's because we are clueless about them, lazy, don't care, etc., is another thing entirely.

But yeah, I hated missing out on so many OL this year. It's really the only issue I have with the amazing class we are reeling in, but it's a big one. Hopefully we can pull Allen back in.

We've got 3 OL prospects OV'ing this weekend & Big Ben is coming to help recruit them...

Nick Buchanan-OL
Justin Young-DT
Sam Madden-OL
Rashad Roundtree-S
Daquan Hawkins-DL but I read we're recruiting him as an OLman

Also we're trending really well with Pat Allen so maybe we can end up with 2 more which would give us 4 for this cycle.

We definitely missed out on a lot of good/great in state OLmen this year but hopefully we can salvage something here at the end...

Being mentioned as a Guard prospect. Seems like our guys say he isn't a very highly regarded DT prospect and grades out better as a Guard.

Kid has a pretty solid offer list, i think I read grades were his biggest hold back. Guys on FSF say he might turn out to be an under-rated "Kenarious Gates" type of player...

If we can get Allen back and end up with two more from that list you provided, I will definitely feel much better. Especially with what I do believe we'll be bringing in in 2016.

Here's hoping.

Rusty said that Eason has already had a conversation with Madden to get to know him & talk to him about coming to UGA...

The fact that so e of these kids aren't from Georgia isn't the only reason that we don't land them. They don't necessarily have ties to the other schools either. One thing that I've heard and read on multiple occasions is that we just didn't identify the kid and get on them early enough. Georgia is a big state with a lot of D1 football talent and is heavily recruited by some major powers, so I understand that we have our work cut out for us. However, just bc the kid isn't from here doesn't mean that we shouldn't have as equal a shot at landing the kid as the other school.

When it comes to recruiting, obviously recruits can talk to each other and recruit them; but are there a lot of limits on current players contacting recruits or being able to answer questions, etc.?

tried searching but couldn't really find much and figured y'all would know if that was a big issue or not

We have had a much smaller support staff in general compared to the biggies plus we can't just blanket the state with offers. That's the first thing James Franklin did. He through out an offer to hundreds of kids in the state. We also don't offer a kid unless we want him to commit unlike others who throw out the "uncommittable offers"

Pretty funny quote from that article:

quote:

Imagine Urban Meyer in a similar photo with an Ohio prospect wearing a sweatshirt from another Big Ten school. You can't.

Maybe not, but then again imagine a photo of Mark Richt on the sidelines with a UGA player who had been in multiple bouts of serious trouble, including being accused of shooting someone in the head (and imagine the Athens police department refusing to even question that player). You can't.

Yeah I get it and understand completely. I was just simply saying that the "transplant" argument isn't the sole reason that we miss on some of these recruits.

OL recruiting has always been a weak spot with us. I mean shite, the top 8 OL prospects(minus CVO)are going outta state. Sage at #9 is our top "in state" OL get so far. CMR/Pruitt/Sale etc. have to do something. We rock on O skill positions & across the board on D but our OL recruiting with a few exceptions always sucks...

There are multiple reasons, the biggest being that we are surrounded by teams who are competitive on a national scale. And in several cases, as Steve Spurrier once quipped, "their scholarships are worth more than ours".

Another big factor is the flagship newspaper from the state's largest city is quite throrough about finding and repeatedly reporting any UGA disciplinary issues, recruiting mishaps, etc. With a history of reporting from the likes of Moore, Schultz, Carvell, we don't need to go all the way to Cleveland to find somebody willing to take gratuitous slaps at UGA.

If a UGA player was killed in a hail of bullets, how long would it have taken the AJC to dig up and report that a gun was found at the scene and bullets may have been flying in both directions? Georgia doesn't have that kind of media shield. It makes a difference in shaping perceptions of the program.

Great point... It's different when an OOS school comes in swinging around their dick & throwing out offers at every top 50 in state player. We gotta back it up if we offer or our name is mud...

Yep, another big reason. Some Georgia HS players and coaches get all pissed off if UGA isn't the first to offer. They don't account for the fact that teams like Ohio State can throw out an early offer and back off later.

Urban doesn't really care if he pisses off a single school in Georgia, so he has a lot more leeway to make those offers. If Richt does it, suddenly he's the bad guy and some coach from Carver makes national news by banning him from school.

Just to show you what kind of person Richt is, that he would stand there and have a discussion and have pictures taken with a player, knowing he would be visiting him that day, wearing another schools colors, and shoes btw.

Had I seen that upon entering the school, I believe I would have completely ignored the player while I glad handed with everyone else.

(Tunsil in-home visit still pisses me off)
