I was not under the impression we were all so high on him. We've signed a lot of good O-Line talent but I didn't lump him in with that. He seems more along the lines of Emmanuel McCray.

Lol, he was being sarcastic. I was referring to Eli.

2014: Taylor
2015: Patterson
2016: ELI Johnson

The point, which went over your head, is that Arkansas has a completely different scheme than we do. Their offensive linemen are basically asked to "maul" the opposing defense as to where in our read option scheme, we have to hold blocks at the point of attack.. a much more difficult job for an Olineman.

I always thought that the spread was designed to cover for a team that didn't have the same caliber players as the big boys. It was especially designed to not need a great oline and to cover for the ones you did. However, they have to be somewhat athletic and mobile. We have a lot of quick hitters where you don't need to hold blocks forever. Allowing them to be grossly overweight throughout the entire season is someone's fault. Also, Arkansas' scheme is not a simple as you make it out to be.

Nope. It was designed to spread the field to give 1on1 matchups, less congested box with spread out defenders, wider splits on the OL, home run ability when defenders miss just 1 assignment. Essentially you win by forcing the defense to tackle you in space and playing sound responsibility football.

Comprae that to the extreme opposite, Arkansas. Arkansas' strategy is that their 9 blockers in the box can push your defenders back enough to get a 1st down every 3 tries. Passing is to keep the D honest.

You don't need an extremely strong OL and can cover that to an extent but not all the way. Need more athletic OL but don't need to be as strong/get the push an Arkansas needs

In a sweeping stroke his point is right. Arkansas is built to run down your through. A spread is built to get a numbers advantage and for the offensive player to be able to navigate through the space. This requires blocks to be maintained not much more

The shitty part about this time of year, when info is the most important, the recruiting sites get all flakey and purposely fan the flame. It's why you can't trust shite from any recruiting site 2 weeks before signing day. They are just gonna insinuate stuff until NSD in the hopes you buy a subscription for the latest info. When really you aren't gonna find out shite til signing day.

I've got a list I made on Twitter for all the top recruits we are targeting. I've got a list for 2015, 2016, and 2017.
