Yeah I'm assuming we get McMillan and Leo with Gates and Denzel and I see no issue with that rotation lol

That's my thoughts. That's okay though it's not like our schedule is 10 weeks without a bye.

Not sold that the D will be better next year.

I think we'll miss Prewitt a lot.

We will have Tee tho. That'll ease the transition

It will ease the loss of Quez for sure, but I don't know that Hampton will come in and play at the level that Prewitt does.

We will be better at every DL position, better at MLB, better at one CB spot, better at husky, and one safety spot. Tee will be as good as senquez, OLB will be just as good. We dont need CJ hampton to be as good as prewitt if the rest of the defense is improving at every other position. Plus anyone that knows anything about coverages realizes Prewitt is our worst cover DB.

He's not a great cover guy in man, which we rarely ask him to do, but he's hardly ever out of position, he's a great tackler, he's a playmaker, and he's the QB of the secondary.

I have only seen one blown coverage this entire year and it was the OJ Howard catch against Bama.

We shouldn't (as fans) expect our D next year to match this year's. This D has so many intangibles and is truly special. We'll have a solid D but a special one like the one we have now takes time to develop.

Follow these steps:

1. Read all steps then start back at #2.
2. Close your eyes.
3. Imagine healthy Tee Shepard on this defense.

True, but this one may even be more developed. Hilton will be just as experienced as Golson. Elston will be just as experienced as prewitt. The DL is more experienced that this years. Denzel is just as experienced as Bird. Essentially the only positin where we arent replacing an experienced leader is MLB where we are getting the #1 in the country and DT is only playing 30 snaps a game.

DT and Cody are as good as any leaders you will fine and that quality isnt just replaced, but its not like we are going from an untalented team with a lot of experience to talented one without any. As far as starting snaps, next's years defense will be more experienced than this years. Can Trae lead the secondary like Cody does? Can Denzel lead the front 7 like DT does? Thats whats got to happen for next's years defense to have that special effect that this one has. We will still have RN, CJ, and Gross leading that defense. Should be fun.

Fanbases in general tend to underestimate the impact of losing players and overestimate the players that are coming in. I am guilty of doing this as well.

Tee should be good...but he is also a guy that is coming off a season ending injury and has never played a snap of Division 1 football. It seems a little optimistic to me to say that he can replace a guy like Golson without a hitch.

If Hampton doesn't improve we can always put Hilton or Chief at safety and have Webster/Ugo on the other side.

We are talking about a 3 deep on the DL that will have experience. The back end won't have to be great. They can do much of what they've done this year. Drop 7 or 8 into coverage and don't give up the big play.

Most of us are only looking at it from a talent standpoint. Of course there are other intangibles that factor in.

Not to mention the Moore twins. I think those two will be stars and one day be the face of Ole Miss football
