When you are preseason No. 2 in the country, coming off an appearance in the national championship series, have a charismatic All-American closer that just happens to resemble the fictional Kenny Powers, you have to do it.

Only thing worse than Arkie-ranters doing the preseason #1 thing last year about this time ... is the grinders lowering the standards to #2.

Last year was as near "implosion" as you are likely to get under Cohen. Sorry.
We had one healthy starting pitcher for the vast majority of the year and all of the post season. Our 2 best arm talents were hurt and gave us basically nothing last year. Let that sink in.

Yet we've only seen one poll thusfar that historically underrates us.
We don't give a shite about preseason championships -- just are enjoying being so close to a truly elite, championship-caliber team that we can taste it.
Overall, it is our expectation to be consistently elite in baseball -- we just didn't get it for 20 years outside of one great recruiting class that took us to Omaha twice(94 class). Polk was surpassed by Bertman and overmatched the day Cohen walked off the field as a player in Omaha in 1990. Polk started mailing it in at that point and damn near totally killed the program before he was done.

Will look a little different than a mid 80s offering from Graveman...that's for sure...
