Come on out Bundy and try to explain how Stansbury could in any way be a better coach than Rick Ray. I dare anyone to try to explain this.

No one can deny Rick Ray and this team's ability to fight for a win. Of course, a lot of things went our way today (the refs, for once) but a lot of credit goes to these players. Helluva game today.

They are sloppy as frick sometimes on offense, but I'll be damned if they don't play hard.

Sword and Ware went beast mode today. It's gonna be scary if they can get some help.

Got to get some more help. I still see anywhere from 6-12 to 8-10 SEC record. Still a big improvement from a year ago. But Ray can fricking coach there is no doubt about it.

Very very true. It's so refreshing to watch our talent go above and beyond rather than watching talent being squandered under Stans

Ray wouldn't have been able to get those players to buy in, I'm afraid. The difference is Ray's players, but Ray gets all the credit because he croots players to fit his mentality and system.

The other day I saw a player say he stays late after practice to work on his DEFENSE. Can you imagine Rayvern, Sidney, Moultrie, etc staying after practice to work on defense?

Bundy will continue to bitch about the lack of stars, but if Ray can find a few good shooters and players that will buy in, he will be very good.

It's not like those small schools that tear up the tourney every year are rolling in talent...common theme is that those teams have good coaches with systems that the players buy into. As long as we have a couple guys like Ware and Sword and solid role players who can D up and shoot behind them we will win some ball games.

This is the first time in a long time that I feel good about us winning with a small lead or behind by 6 or less with 2 minutes left. Our guys really fight hard at the end to win while a Stans coached team usually blew the lead and would lose.

You are doing just what they do except opposite. You are making a thread after a win like they would after a loss.

We will have more wins and losses this year so I can't wait for all of these threads after each.

Riding the fence are you? Or just taking a stance that will allow you to make fun of each without ever being wrong?

We had a good win today and Taxman is overreacting the same way Bundy will after our next bad loss.

It's beyond retarded to judge Ray after every single game.

And to answer your fence riding question I'm not going to act like I know whether Ray is gonna be awesome or suck. Right now, it looks like he is a good coach, but it's hard to judge based on the situation he was put in. It's obvious to see he's a much better coach than Stansbury though. We'll see if his recruiting style works.

Next year we need to be in the NIT and in year 4 we need to be in the tourney. If he can't do that then we may need to look elsewhere.

I'm hoping he succeeds because I've met him before and he's a super nice guy.

I'm proud to say he coaches at State. I rarely thought that about Stans.

Altogether I completely agree.

If only somehow you could combine the powers of the Stansbury recruiting and the Ray coaching it would be awesome. I don't think Ray is going to pull elite talent but he still has a chance to prove us wrong because it's only his second year and Malik Newman is out there, however small of a chance that might be.

I kinda hope that we can accelerate that a year, however I know it's not probable.

Kinda like Williams with Stands. We had coaching and recruiting- and went to a FF

It takes a certain type of player to buy into Ray's philosophy and just totally bust your arse the whole game. Sadly, I can only think of a few from the Stans era that would've fit the mold.

Dawg@Auburn posed the question to me on twitter-

How long would Renardo Sidney have lasted under Ray? A Week?

I said less than 1 practice
