Wow. Just finished listening to the press conference introducing Coach Mason this morning. Very excited by what I heard from CDM, seems like an upgrade, which I would not have thought possible. Classy group of guys and even Zeppos seemed on point, hardly delving into silliness at all. VC David Williams comes through again! Anchor Down!

I know it's cliche, but the line about being here for life or something similar struck a nerve. Part of it is the recent fiasco, but ignoring that, I find it hard to think Vandy is a destination HC job. We're better obviously, but that line just struck a nerve.
Other than that, it was an incredible PC. He was articulate, but not so polished that it seemed rehearsed or put on. The use of "we" to describe Vandy and the anecdote of wearing a VU tie to the interview seemed sincere. I did think that showed guts and commitment. If he had not gotten the job, that news could have leakes back to Stanford to make a messy situation.
Overall, I'm even more excited and proud to have Derek Mason as our HC. Time to round out staff and recruit.
