I already knew about the calls made by the QB at the line that can change plays based on what the defense shows but the hard count shite can be stressful

Listening to a game via gameline would be a great experience. You would get to hear how mad Saban actually gets at people lol...It'd be fun stuff...

I saw this post earlier today! That's a fantastic breakdown, and the fact that it all happens in 25-40 seconds is amazing.

Although I knew some of this stuff, the guy writing this really brought it down to an understandable level and I learned some new things. For instance, I didn't realize that saying "Omaha" (or whatever the QB chooses) reset the snap count.

It will be fun to watch tomorrow's Denver-New England game and look for this stuff from Manning and Brady.

I played football in 5th and 6th grade and stopped afterwards because I wasn't that good. What does playing football have anything to do with how advanced the game gets. I don't think we had that much going on in 5th and 6th grade ball.

Exactly...I mean I knew some of this stuff as well. I'm sure most of us did but it's crazy how much is actually going on pre-snap.

The closest I got to a football field in high school was when I was in the marching band.

I'm cool.

May be a dumb question but, why are the LBs called Mike and Jack?

Different people call different LBs different things, but I'll explain ours:

Mike is the Middle Linebacker. Both start with M, not very creative.

Will is the Weak Inside Linebacker in our 34. W in Will and Weak.

Sam is the Strong Outside LB in our 34, you see the trend.

Jack, well the only reason I know of is "Jack" is the edge rusher DE/OLB hybrid and he other guys that come in to rush the passer are "rabbit" rushers. Jack rabbit.

Other people have different terms for different reasons though.

Nah, the high school coach asked me to be the kicker back around 2004. I went out for a day, left, and went right back to soccer practice. Didn't get into hockey til about 2008.

Brady says Alabama as a snap count for some plays I remember him saying it a lot last season. Didn't really know what it meant though as the plays were different.

Well he ended his college career with a win over Bama, it may signify the end of the snap count, or the end of his dead count or the end of the adjustments.
