The melt
Day 1

The same could be said for people who drink or people who cheat on their wives. Temptation is a bytch. Doesn't make you a punk or a thug so just stop.

I have no problem with the punishment or the crime. I just think the crime doesn't fit the punishment. It's a harmless crime that affects no one but himself. If he wasn't a football player no one would give a shyt. He would pay a remedial fine and that would be that. Period

I guess I have just grown to expect news like this during the off season. It is frustrating but hopefully someone else will step up and fill his role.

How fricking hard is it to quit with these ancient, archaic, asinine limitations we place on ourselves that none of our rivals do, concerning a naturally growing plant that is safer to use than alcohol?

IDGAS if it's illegal, I'm not talking about the law. I'm talking about UGA punching ourselves in the dick all in the name of being righteous and higher than thou over everyone else, when all it actually does is hurt our chances to win football games. Do people look at UGA and say "ya know what? They have it right, they do the right thing with drugs"? frick no, in fact it's the OPPOSITE! It has the exact opposite affect! People think we're thugs, our arrest numbers skyrocket, we make headlines and the front page of the newspaper, whereas our rivals don't even GAS until after you've failed two..and sometimes even then they keep it hush and handle things in house. College kids smoke weed at every.single.college. in America. Even Christian colleges. We're talking about 18-21 year olds out on their own, people will smoke. But only at UGA do we spit in the fact of a possible national title just to teach one young man that "smoking is bad and wrong!!" when a few states over you're already allowed to walk down the street with a blunt.

This whole situation is sickening, and I'm not referring to JHC.

This. Nobody else was in physical danger by him smoking. He wasn't putting others at risk. I assume he was just in his dorm room, big fricking deal.

If UGA was so hellbent on our students being on the straight and narrow, they would put a cop at every corner of downtown at 2:15AM every saturday night and suspending the violators.

No dummy, we're not talking about the after affects after UGA's dumbass policies are enforced, we're talking about the act itself.

JHC smoking in his dorm room doesn't hurt a soul.

I smoked every day in college, but in the 5 years since have done so very very rarely, maybe only a few times total. So I've been on both sides of the equation. My opinions don't come from a "yeah man toke up, everybody 420 blaze get high" standpoint, they come from a common sense standpoint. There is simply no reason to have the ridiculously harsh penalties we do, when practically no one else does.

I would if I could. But once again, if you'll use a tad bit of reading comprehension, I said I'm not talking about the law. I'm talking about UGA policies. Drinking under 21 is illegal too, but that sure is rampant in Athens and that's celebrated.
