This board has been surprisingly quiet about Butch Jones

I see all kinds of threads about how successful Malzahn has been or how much of an abject failure Bielema has been, but I haven't seen many threads discussing Jones (or Stoops, but no one really gives a shite about UK football), so what are people thinking? I've heard he has put together a good recruiting class, but I personally put 0 stock into recruiting rankings. I know UTK didn't make a bowl this year, but they did pull the upset of USCe. Will he get UTK over the hump?

the jury is still out on Jones, imo

Next year will be like the past three, then his third year we should improve significantly. I don't think he gets over the hump though.

that's interesting because it seems the verdicts on the other first year coaches have been back for a while.

Long term he's the best hire of the bunch.

We're all good which is probably why we're quiet. Thing is we also realize it may not happen in 2014, too many questions for 2014. However, I fully expect 2015 to be wonderful.

It's Tennessee. They will be a dumpster fire until they make a Nick Saban-caliber hire. Plus now you have Vanderbilt to compete with for in-state recruits, assuming Vandy can maintain its momentum. The state of Tennessee is the new Mississippi of football: no great football program to speak of.

I just think the talent level is too low at UT to accurately judge him at this point

Vandy has lost most, if not all of its momentum at this point, imo

Correct. He'll also have to hire two new coordinators to win here. He may have to get them both right his next try.

Tennessee fans don't act like Arkansas fans on here, that's why you hear about BB more than Butch Jones.

I seent a different Tennessee team with Butch at the helm.

I think they win 7 games minimum in 2014.

Will beat:
Utah St.
Arky St.
Chattanooga
Ole Miss
Kentucky
Mizzou
Vandy

Probably will beat Florida in Knoxville as well. I think Carolina beats them at home.

Tennessee fans don't talk retarded shite like Arkansas fans, so there is no need to trash them when they suck. And they weren't good enough to be worth talking about this past season. I think Jones is better than Dooley though.

If you lived amongst them you'd probably feel different. They're arrogant as shite now... I can only imagine what it'll be like when they actually start winning.

That's not difficult.

Dooley was downright turrible.

this is true, but I think that's because Arkansas was better recently

Jones took over from Dooley who took over from Kiffin who took over from Fulmer... none of those transitions took place at a time when the program felt like it was on solid footing

I'm not sure how much outrage I could muster if I were a Vol fan after that recent turnover. I'd probably be partly numb and partly pragmatic (have a "wait and see" outlook)

They have Tommy Thigpen, so UT should get used to their LBers never tackling anyone.
