My friend, Rod, has been playing for like a month now and says he makes like $2,000 from playing at tournaments. I've never really played the little card games with the little dragon ball z people on them before, I've always been more of a Texas Hold'Em kinda guy. Is it kinda like Pokemon because that show was pretty stupid and I never bought the cards or the games.

Anyone else here play Magic Gathering tournaments? And if so, how much money have you made and what is the average batting rate?

Never played Magic, but I used to be into the old Decipher Star Wars CCG.

Awesome game.

Had Pokeman like everybody else when I was young (early elementary school) but anybody that I've seen play these when they are older are either Asian or pretty weird.

With the exception of one dude I know. He's a cool guy and I would've never pegged him to be the type to play these. Pretty sure he made some money doing it.

I want to make as much money as possible but Rod is keeping all his secrets to himself. The only thing he will tell me is that he paid $40 for some night classes at Northeast Mississippi Community College where they taught Magic Gathering strategies and how to make money from tournaments. I called the school and they told me that they don't offer card game classes. I haven't even bought the cards yet.

I had to take a pay cut in my job and I have a new car payment coming soon. I thought this would be a good idea to make some money on the side but I don't want to invest anymore than $100 in it or else I'll have to start digging into my son's college fund.

A tesla, it's econ-friendly.

And yes, Rod is the guy who does crossfit(I do not, it is a cult and stupid), he started playing Magic Gathering partly to pay off his crossfit gym fees.

Those teslas are pretty cool. I saw one the other day that had child seats in the trunk. It blew my mind these nice looking people were putting their kids in the trunk.

OP #1 thing to know about magic is it is a Fun Game. Play it when you want to hang out with friends and play it when you want to have a good time and relax with cool people.

how are you going to explain to DM4L Jr. why you are inside playing a card game when you want him outside playing basketball?

I'll probably go practice playing it in our shed. Therefore, I won't have to explain anything, and if he questions why I'm spending so much time in the shed, I'll just tell him that I'm working on garden stuff for my roses and my wife's spankers.

Only person I know who plays it is Rod and he told me that he doesn't want to play it around/with me because I'll steal his secrets.
