on paper, he is a fantastic hire for them. Let them have their day. We have work to do and we wouldn't have it any other way.

To you dwag lurkers, congrats on the hire and see you in november. We still owe you a few.

FSU defense was effin' STACKED on the line and secondary.

We put 400+ yds on them with a very young OL, average receivers, a JUCO xfer QB *still* finding his way, and one kick-arse RB.

Good hire by UGA.

But I ain't scared.

I don't disagree. He will have plenty of talent to work with in Athens too. I think his biggest attribute will be recruiting. He should help restore some credibility in GA and open in roads in both FL and AL. Iron sharpens iron. I can't wait for the game next year.

He doesn't even know what asparagus is: LINK

He is a great recruiter, but nothing special as a coach. Think about his coaching stops. He has always had elite talent to work with.

-Hoover HS under Rush Probst
-Coached DBs for Saban at Bama
-Coached a roster of NFL players this year at FSU

i made that point on another board... pruitt has had superior talent at every stop, including high school... at UGA, the offenses he will be facing have as much or more talent than the UGA defense.

without a top 10 pick at nose guard (jernigan), we probably hand 40+ and 500 yards on that defense... and that's with supposed NFL talent at the other 10 positions.

MF hilarious!

He will have elite talent up there too. I welcome the challenge and love our staff, so I look forward to that game even more now.

It's a good hire for UGA. Their defense has nowhere to go but up kind of like our defense from 2011-2012.

He's young, a good recruiter, and has no problem running the 3-4.

Both. But Pruitt is a 3-4 guy.

he might be a great recruiter but is that hard to do when you're recruiting for Alabama and FSU?

plus getting talent is something Georgia has been doing for years. getting talent is not their problem.

Grantham was a good recruiter... getting Pruitt out of north FL is probably an overall good thing for us... on the field, it may be another story, we'll see.

His recruiting area at both schools had some built in advantages.

No worries. Most coaches in the big 6 are top notch, Gus is something special. He got this.

I still think recruiting players out of Georgia will be any different. in Georgia all the locals do is talk up Georgia and high school players still bolt in mass. I kind of think, after living near Athens and spending time there that it's Georgia, off the field issues and CMR that turns these recruits off.

I'm going to have to look at Pruitts record to see if there is anything special there but to be honest from what I've read and heard it's a meh hire.

i think Georgia fans are getting a contact high because his team just won the bcs ncg. but his defense couldn't stop Auburn in the first half and fourth quarter and that was with a defense full of NFL athletes he didn't recruit. but they're kind of desperate for a high.

honestly given how quick pruitt bolted plus 6 out of 9 coaches leaving FSU last year, that's more interesting than what is going on with the sinking ship in Athens.

Alight, according to wikipedia Jeremy Pruit was Alabama's DB coach (thought Saban was the DB coach?) from 2010-2012 and FSU's DC/DB in 2013.

Alabama's pass defense national ranking before, during and after that time:
2008 30th
2009 10th
2010 13th
2011 1st*
2012 7th
2013 11th

*Those DBs included 3 first round picks in 2012: Mark Barron 7th pick overall, Kirkpatrick 17th and Menzie 5th round.

FSU Total Defense/Passing Defense from 2008-2013 with Pruit as a new hire and DC in 2013:

2008 15th TD / 6th PD
2009 108th TD / 77th PD : Bobby Bowden's last year
2010 42nd TD / 71st PD : Jimbo's first year with Mark Stoops DC
2011 4th TD / 20th PD Mark Stoops DC
2012 2nd TD / 1st PD Mark Stoops DC
2013 3rd TD / 1st PD Jeremy Pruitts first year

Alright, so give Mark Stoops the credit. In 3 years he takes the 108th total defense and 77th against the pass to 2nd total in the country and 1st in pass defense.

So again, contact high is what this is for UGA and they were kind of desperate to get high on something.

But for everyone else, why would 6 out of 9 coaches bolt from a team that went 12-2 and was poised for a national championship run? And then FSU wins the BCS NCG but Pruitt bolts to go from defensive coordinator to defensive coordinator?

What's up with FSU?
