Bama as their new DC? Pruitt played for Alabama and served as a coach for Alabama for 5 years. If his success continues I wonder if he might be a candidate to replace Nick Saban?

Kirby has turned us down twice. He will never coach at UGA again, Head or otherwise!

Seth Emerson said that he was never a serious candidate so he would not have turned us down. Said that Richt honed in on Pruitt early and never let up.

It does not appear Kirby Smart was a serious candidate this time around. Richt honed in on Pruitt right away. Story:

Makes me think the 2010 thing has pretty much ended Kirby ever coming to UGA if that's true. If they never showed serious interest in him then that bridge had to be burned to the ground.

Other sources say it was offered to Kirby and he turned it down when UGA wouldn't name him HCIW. Who knows whats real?

Kirby is afraid to leave Saban's shadow. He had tons of chances to be HC at a smaller school or be a DC somewhere else as prove he can handle it... but he never took the opportunity. Honestly I am skeptical on why he hasn't.

Well I'll trust what Seth puts out there over what someone on a message board says, any day.

I would not be so sure. Kirby is an experienced DC under Saban's valuable tutorage. He is set to move into a HC position not a lateral move to UGA as a DC. There's no way our admins would approve the salary it would take to get Smart as our DC (1.5 million); we maintained the same salary as Grantham, 850k, to get Pruitt. Hiring Smart as a HC down the road after Richt retires would be a whole new ball game.

The 1.6 million/5 year deal is one of the biggest crocks of shite I have ever heard on a message board.............

I refuse to believe that this was anywhere close to the truth. In fact, I would be ashamed of UGA if they paid ANY coordinator this much money.

Smart should've pushed for the Vandy job this year IMO. You get HC experience in the SEC and if you lose...it's okay because its expected. If you win, you're a super hero.

How long does he plan on staying at Bama as a coordinator?

I don't think he is afraid so much as he knows he has a great job already.

This. The guy is the highest paid DC in the land making 1.4 million and has been an integral part of a team that has won 3 of the last 5 national championships. The only job he should seriously be considering is a HC job.
