Seriously? There are dumb mistakes that are forgivable. That is one of them.

Kentavious seems like a whiner. He complained about that shite before too.

Isn't Mixon our main RB for this class anyway?

I think Mixon will be a change of pace guy and play slot some. He isn't a between the tackles guy which have been the most successful at State under Mullen.

Gibson, Mixon is more of a slot/scat type of back.

I just meant that he's easily the least talented of the three and that gave us a way out.

Didn't Thomas only average like 67 yards a game this year? Murphy rushed for 1800 yards and 22 TD's as a junior and is 6'1"-6-2", I can't see any way he doesn't have the higher upside of the two.

As far as comparing the 3, Thomas isn't going to qualify, and he played 4a ball while the other two played 5 and 6a. Gibson playing 6a in Alabama, I assume, is as good of prep as a RB can get for D1.

Murphy = Hanrahan eventually IMO... Lee too. Shump can play there as well at times. We're going to see more fullback sets IMO. We're closer to where we need to be there than we are at HB/TE as of today...

I guess I could see that, I'm not sure he has the frame though. He looks very natural at 220. Hanrahan was a monster, I used to see him in the gym the summer they were building the new weight facility and he was gigantic. I've never seen traps that big.

Has Mullen even hinted at that? We haven't had a Hanrahan since Hanrahan. The only reason Mullen used him is because he was already on the team.

To aid this discussion, in case some of you haven't seen them.

Murphy Highlight Vid:

Thomas Highlight Vid:

Thomas appears faster. I didn't know Murphy was also being recruited as a LB, maybe part of what the coaches are looking at. Maybe they are thinking FB for Murphy but he looks to be faster than Gibson so I'm not completely sold on that. I think the likely explanation is we didn't have room for a sign and place, on top of both Gibson and Murphy being impressive prospects.

ETA: After watching, I do know that Murphy's team is far worse at blocking than the other two, having to make most of those plays on his own.

He hasn't come out and said it, but it seems to be hinted at by taking them IMO...

That's the only reason that makes sense to take Lee last year and Murphy this year. Neither is even close to their counterparts in the class as pure RB talents IMO...

Isn't Lee looking more impressive that Aeris in practice though? That seems to be what everyone has been posting.

It was reported that he looked great, but you can't take much from 3-4 open practices at the beginning of bowl season IMO.

Man idk. I guess you just have to hope they know what they're doing because all of this looks very unconventional.

I mean, I don't really get my jimmies rustled much about recruiting but I thought Thomas could have been a work horse. shite, I'm not the one who's job is on the line though so I'll just enjoy the ride from here.

Well I'm OK with the move IF Thomas is a definite non-qualifier. We just don't have a lot of room for sign and place guys because I believe they count against your totals now with the new rules. I know we sent Myers and Champion off to CC without signing. Plus you have to wait for 2 seasons on them anyway unless they are willing to start CC early like Myers and Champion are doing.

We've gone with a very different approach this year for sure...

Not going to kill us if we don't have a starting tailback in this class. None of these guys could start over Williams and we can sign another good one next year. We have a lot of depth at that position.

Right. It really doesn't hurt anything to drop a TB.

Engie, how are you feeling about that ban bet though, losing another 4 star?
