A former Auburn player has been sentenced to serve more than six years in federal prison on drug and gun charges.

U.S. Attorney Michael J. Moore said in a news release Monday that 37-year-old Robert Cedrick Baker III, of Gainesville, Fla., was sentenced to serve six years and three months.

Investigators say they found 59.5 grams of heroin and a semi-automatic pistol during a search of Baker's car.

Baker pleaded guilty in October after reaching a plea deal with prosecutors. He admitted the drugs were meant for distribution.

Baker was best know for this iconic image...

Alright so I'm not up and up on the heroin game, but is 59.5 grams distribution worthy?

Also isn't 6 years for that steep especially with a plea-bargain.

no. not sure how things work in Florida. But the 6 doesn't necessarily mean he'll serve 6. His sentence could have been 6 years to serve 2 in confinement. A lot of it also depends on his criminal history. But basically, no 6 years isn't that steep

Actually federal prison means you serve a LOT more of your sentence...he can expect to serve about five years and six months...if he behaves.

The good news is that federal prison is way way better than serving time in state prison...feds have more $$$ and take care of you better. Six years with distribution of smack? Damn...he lucky.
