I just don't see them giving the keys to a coach that has never been a coordinator.

Being under Jimbo's wing for so long I bet he knows the pro style offense more than he knows ours. Plus he would have a head coach able to help break him in, while still getting credit. Hard to get credit at AU with GUS and even Lashlee ahead of him. Cant say it wouldnt be a good career move.

I haven't heard anything like that. I'd be shocked if that happened. I think he makes as much as Bobo did at Auburn. UGA wouldn't wouldn't outbid us. Plus I think he's next in line at OC when Lashlee finally leaves.

Went through the UGA "Who will be our next OC" thread with the find function, and there is no mention of Craig. Not saying this means anything, but he doesn't seem to be on any of their board members' radars.

The amount of UGA fans that are just guys in Georgia with no knowledge of anything is extremely large

The Gus to Dolphins and Craig to UGA are rumors being used to negatively recruit against us, nothing more. Craig aint goin nowhere and neither is Gus. At least not for next year

It also comes from fear. The rest of the SEC knows how much of a threat Auburn is with Gus Malzahn as the head coach.

First post on the AU board! Thanks for whoever let me on. It'll be a fun one!

They absolutely fear him.

We are 20-6 in Malzahn's first 2 years. About to be 21-6

Saban was 19-8 in his first 2 seasons. Since then he is 72-8

I fully expect Gus to be able to mirror if not go over that.

Saban won't be there much longer. Gus will run him off quicker than most think.

Pump the brakes man. Having 8 losses in 6 seasons is pretty much unparalleled in college football history. On top of Saban being an all time great type coach of the game, he has recruited at a level never before seen and played against arguably the weakest SEC slate by luck (UTk, LSU, AU, UF and others all down when he played tehm).

There is almost no way that Gus even comes close to matching what Saban has done. Especially with the SEC getting better every year from top to botton

While I agree, so far Gus has done better. So far. Without Muschamp and 4 cycles of Malzahn/Muschamp recruits.

That I will agree with... The only thing standing in our way is the way that midget recruits... I don't get it. He gets the number 1 player at every fricking position.

Some years he has. But realistically that 2011 team was unbelievable. He beat an elite UF team in 2009. Ill give him props on that season as well as 2011.

The other years, besides our 2010 run, the SEC has been suspect as far as fielding an elite team. 2012 their OL carried them with Lacy. The SEC was ok that year.

I get some parts of their schedule was easy but they play in the SEC west and usually play a decent opponent to start the year. I wish we would do that. Just not against fricking clemson. If we play clemson one more god damn time in the next decade I'm going to puke.

Meh. Time will tell. It all goes back to recruiting. It is odd to me Oregon does well with their recruiting being average.

Definitely tougher than what Sabear went through, but I think where we are unlike them is that we don't play not to lose. We play to win every single game balls to the wall. (most of the time)

Auburn will not recruit at the level of Saban the past 5 years. Hell, nobody will

Don't need to. If we can finish around a #5 average, we will be fine. Saban is not the great coach he gets credit for. There are any number of guys who could win with their talent.

Saban has always out-talented opposing teams. He can easily be outcoached in a game and can easily get flustered under pressure to do desperate and stupid things during a game. If the calls are made down the line/leaning against him and the other team outplays his team he begins to unravel pretty easily.

That said, he is the best recruiter out there somehow and has a great eye for talent. And he will take a guy to cripple his opponent before they have a chance.

I wouldn't say Michigan State and LSU with Dinardo's players had talent advantages. He when 12-0 in 2008 with only 1 of "his" classes of talent at Alabama too.

Also, look at teams like Miami, Texas, Auburn, USC, UF, Michigan and more who recruit at an extremely high level and have been struggling to even make bowl games at some point inthe past few years. Talent doesn't win you games by itself (unless you are Bobby Bowden)

I don't understand why Auburn fans have some hatred for Saban and can't admit he is one of the all time greats. He took an afterthought Alabama program dominated by Tuberville to one of the best stretches in CFB history. He isn't a bad guy, just happens to coach our rival

** Also, Saban probably hates Alabama fans as much as you do if his press conferences are any indication
