Yes but in many cases that's around the same time kids start winter classes hence why I said I wish Patterson was not an EE.

Mullen is not going to Michigan. Mullen will land in Florida. Foley whiffed on Muschamp (and Zook), and he won't be unilaterally making this call. If our staff wants any State prospects, they will get a second chance.

As for Freeze, that ain't happening. The dude was born in Oxford, and his first college job was at Ole Miss. He's right where he wants to be.

Freeze leaves oxford before Mullen leaves state... but neither is going anywhere IMO.... the days of major inequality in the sec are over... ever body has millions to spend on salaries, facilities, recruiting, etc.

It's not about how much you can spend on all those things. Even if jobs are as equal in terms of how much finances you can throw at those areas as you are making them sound you have not factored in recruiting territory at all. Florida being one of the 3 premier states for high school talent alone makes that job much better than the Mississippi schools and it's not even close. As I said before I think Mullen's perception of Miss St and yours are vastly different. The only way Mullen does not take the first train out of Starkville is if he's not wanted at better programs like Florida or Michigan. If Mullen and Foley can put their differences aside then I agree with the above poster that Mullen would be a primre cadidate fo Florida. I do however think Freeze is a better coach and fit for Florida. If I were Foley I'd offer Freeze $5 mil plus a year as well as point out how much better the recruiting area is and facilties are at Florida, and how valuable it could be to get out of the SEC West and make him tell me no and see if Ole Miss really is a destination job for him.

Obviously some schools have a major advantage in terms of recruiting territory, but is that enough for a guy to leave something he's established for a rebuilding job at a school with already inflated expectations.

We'll see after the season... But I don't see Mullen or freeze leaving.

Tuberville may be the last to do it... leave one sec school for another (nutt doesn't count, he was getting fired).

It would be interesting to see if that really is his destination job and I think that if Ole Miss came close to matching his offers, he would stay. I have heard several times through several people (not insider shite at all, just message board fodder) that Ole Miss is where he wanted to end up at to retire.

That said, right now MSU is getting a lot more love nationally than Ole Miss and Mullen was already considered "one of the best coaches in the SEC" so I think his stock is much higher than Freeze's is. If Mullen is going to leave, finishing with 2 losses or less this year would be the time to jump to another spot and Florida will be looking.

And just to have some recruiting stuff in the recruiting thread, I hope we can pull Ivey but I am not feeling good about it now. If we haven't moved ahead with him after the shitstorm that is going on down there, his heart is at UF and he should probably go there.

Lol at all the Mullen hype. Three weeks ago he was a nobody then he beats a hugely overrated LSU and A&M and AU played the worst game imaginable. Once Prescott is gone MSU is back to 7-5.

Maybe... Or maybe he's a damn good football coach who is only going to get better... dudes in his early 40s iirc... he's younger than Gus. He's cut his teeth at a tough place to win.

IMO what Mullen has done is impressive bc he does it without all the recruiting hype. He's a solid talent evaluator. To me, that would translate better at a major program than southern preaching recruiting superstar Hugh freeze. But that's just my opinion.

I am not a fan of Mullen, but I can give credit where credit is due. His teams play hard physical football. This is MSU he is doing this at, and all you have to do is look at their history and see he is achieving quite a bit there.

He is also doing it with recruiting mostly 3 star football players that suggests as lowspark said he can evaluate talent potential as Tubs was able to do. He has built a solid football program. Does that mean he is the greatest ever? No. However, it's okay to offer praise to opposing coaches even if you don't like the person for whatever reason.

Like it or not Mullen deserves the hype and praise he is getting. You can try to blow off the wins that you list but the fact is they won, and gave us hell all game to win.

Good point

We will be ranked #8 in recruiting when signing day is over.

Ivey has only been able to visit twice to this point. IMO, we will have a better idea after his visit for aTm. He has visited UF dozens of times. Some of these kids take time to gain trust. They are like puppies. You can't force yourself on them. You have to ease up to them, let them lick your face, scratch behind their ears, and your IN! Or something like that...

3 weeks of good football can't erase 5 years of mediocrity.

He's not Chizik without Cam/Gus bad or anything but without Dak he's as average as it gets.

His win against us is the only win he has in his career against a team that finished a season or is currently ranked in the top 20 in 5 1/2 years of coaching.

Yeah but he recruited Dak and signed him. That D Line is pretty stellar and J Robinson is a pretty damn good running back. shite your like the other fans talking about Auburn success. How pathetic.

I am not going to discuss anymore in here about Mullen though. You can have your opinion. I don't think he is awesome but deserves the praise. He built the team that is playing this year.

My point is a school like Florida could do so much better and easily find a coach with a proven track record.

Sure Mullen deserves a lot of credit for putting together a solid team this year.

However, Mullen has been the definition of mediocre for five years and I'm not silly enough to let three good weeks overshadow that. I doubt any ADs at major programs are either.
