If you decided to take your franchise quaterback this year and these are the elite guys left, who would it be?

Manziel
Mettenberger
McCarron
or Murray

I'm taking McCarron all day and twice on Sunday. That cat knows how to play the QB position.

Is that the official name for the guy holding a clipboard on the sideline?

Murray
McCarron
Mettenberger

But it depends on the team. I'd take Mett if I was the patriots, but thats about the only team I'd prefer him.

Wow, those are 4 very solid QBs coming from the SEC. Thats the best SEC QB class ever maybe.

A lot would depend on the style of offense. If I am Kelly at Philly I am bringing in JFF. If i am a game management type offense I am taking McCarron. If I have a good QB in place and have time to develop my guy I am taking Mett. If I am N.O. I am taking Murray.

I think all of these guys are long shots to be an elite franchise QB.

Manziel was probably the only elite college QB among them and there are serious questions about whether he will be a huge flop in the NFL.

I just don't love these choices, but I guess I would go Manziel if I wanted to run a non-traditional (for the NFL) offense with a running QB. I guess I would take McCarron if I wanted to run a traditional pro-style offense.

Yea no doubt. I see it like this though. As promising as they look at the college level, it's not a guarantee that they will transition well into the NFL. It's just a proven fact. If i had a choice though, it would be out McCarron and Mett.

We'll see what Kelly chooses to do. Vick wasn't working out for him and he adjusted his offense well to a much more traditional approach to find success.

Manziel is obviously a very special talent but I think some on this board especially fail to grasp the vast gulf between NFL defenders and coaches compared to what Manziel has had success against.

This I agree with. Nothing they have done suggests they will or can be elite qb's.

So what else would JFF have to do to convince you? I mean, he only put up the two best statistical seasons in the history of the league.

Truely have a point here. I love watching them at the college level but I believe none will come in and play like Bridgewater. But, out of these SEC guys, it's a shot in the dark but I wouldn't bet against AJ. Manziel is too small IMO and I doubt he's a Russ Wilson in the making. Mett, hard to tell but I see someone drafting him as a project. Murray, I honestly don't know what to expect of his NFL career

I think with Manziel and Murray you know what you are getting. It is just a matter of determining if their skill set matches your scheme and personnel.

McCarron has had a ton of college success with decent measurables. However, it is hard to tell how much of his success was because of the team he played on. It will be interesting to see if he can break away from that game manager title. Unfortunately, I have witnessed him make some elite throws. It will be interesting to see where he lands in the pros.

Mett has the prototypical size and arm strength, but he has lacked consistency with his accuracy and ability to throw the deep ball. His growth this year may be more attributed to the maturation of his relationship with Beckham and Landry as it it did being coached by Cameron.
