According to coaching search.com Manny Diaz and Duane Akina are the two names that are atop the list.

I know that someone else in the Lakatos thread worried that Diaz would bolt for a DC job somewhere, but there's a good chance that he could place himself in a prime position for a promotion from DB coach if something were to happen to CTG.

I also read somewhere that shattle Fateng, or however the hell you spell his name, said that Grantham is waiting to hear back from some nfl guys.

Give me the Coach from Texas and let's call it a Day.

I read elsewhere Brett Maxie had been contacted...

I read that as well..I honestly think it was a quote from Fenteng in the AJC. Take it for what it's worth though. He said that Grantham told him he wanted to get an NFL guy in to coach Shattle up for the NFL.

I want Diaz
Having 2 former DCs along with Grantham couldn't hurt. Maybe they can help him out with the whole stopping people thing.

Yeah I'd be ok with Diaz. My concern is his teams haven't been great tacklers and I don't think he has ever coached CB's.

Send his happy arse to some clinics and have our defensive staff shadow a program that actually plays that side of the ball. I like the idea of recruiting and having 3 DCs on defense.
I also know that while his defense was horrendous at Texas I get the idea he was kind of scapegoated. At MSU his defenses were pretty damn stout.
And it't not like we have anywhere to go but up. shite, I wanted Diaz to replace Grantham like a year after we hired fat frick magee. May not have been my brightest moment but I still think the guy has something to offer.

But would it be too many cooks in the kitchen? Might be some in-fighting...especially if things didn't go well....

They'd all be gone if shite went catastrophic anyway.

If they can't get along then it'll be the catalyst to getting all of them fired. Win/win

Tony Oden is one of the NFL names on scout. He is Tampa Bay's CB coach. He also coached the Saints CB's and Secondary for 6 years. He won a super bowl with Sean Peyton and had a great secondary! I doubt he would come to UGA, but I would like it if he did.

Did you guys watch the Texas D before Diaz was fired? It was a bigger grease fire than ours. Keep that guy away from Athens.

I still think he gets a bit too much of the rap for that. His MSU defenses were excellent
