Posted this on another board and I know some of you read them but wanted to post it here because I am so sick of this shite.....

When those shots didn't fall early, you could just feel that feeling we have felt for the last 10 years and see it in the players body language.

It's not coaching. It's not fundamentals. It's not talent.

It's a damn mindset. A killer instinct and the mindset of the team is directly reflective of the mindset of Coach. It's mental fricking toughness and we haven't had it in 4 years with MA outside of BWA. I thought we changed that in Maui against Minnesota. That was a big time win and we also played pretty well against Gonzaga, but obviously that's not the case yet.

You've got to want it. You've got to want to change it. ALL IT TAKES IS GETTING ONE PLAYER TO BELIEVE. The whole team will thrive off of it and when we starting dominating in a road game like we do in a home game EVERYONE will follow suite and Rashad Madden is our one guy on this team that can change it, if tonight was any evidence.

Qualls disappointed me extremely tonight. I thought he had that killer instinct.

We have GOT to get mentally tough.

Do the players have some accountability? Of course....

But we are a mentally weak team on the road and that is strictly on the coach. Period.

I can't stand Petrino now, but he always talked about something that has stuck with me since he first got here. You have to be as MENTALLY tough as you are physically tough. Physical toughness without mental toughness is useless. And in Petrino's time here, we were ALWAYS mentally tough, no matter the situation.

Mike better figure it out. If this is 2015 and we're going through the same shite, we better start looking somewhere else imo.

did you watch butler vs duke a couple years ago? a bunch of small skinny white kids who looked like they would get beat by a paper bag said frick it and played some ball with a helluva coach.

as I said before MA needs to get his complacent arse off the bench and actually do something when his team starts shitting themselves. Ma hasn't been too soft, he hasn't been anything he just sat there like he had no impact whatsoever on the team.

the team needs a strong leader that believes in them instead of looking snarky like MA does all the time and killing any motivation they have.

why not put the nastiest toughest football players on the bball team? bc that's not how basketball works.

you learn schemes and practice shooting, and have a coach there to motivate you on the sideline so that even when everyone in the stadium is yelling at you you know and your coach knows that you can win.

there's a reason why one of these coaches is now the head coach for the Celtics.

one of these pictures isn't coaching

MA was off the bench plenty tonight. I stand by my notion that it's not coaching. Anderson is a good coach.

It's mental toughness.

he's not coaching mental toughness. it's not like MA didn't know we had trouble on the road. he had an offseason and the whole first half of the season to get prepared for road games.

whatever he's doing isn't working.

as i just said he needs to motivate the team. the whole second half i saw him off the bench maybe once. i didn't even see any game planning beyond one play right after a timeout that failed anyway.

He's a good coach evidenced of how we play at home.

And he absolutely has to coach mental toughness. It's a huge part of the game.....

I agree. I even said this in the game thread on RT.

Let's go play UTSA at UTSA. Let's play South Alabama at USA.

That's what it's going to take.

this x100000000

the whole team looked shaken from the get go.

it was brutally honest that this game was something new, a new challenge, something different from what they had been through the past few months. that is a problem.

they looked completely unprepared to play a road game. sloppy, pressing too hard, even the shots not falling indicates jitters and nerves. playing away from the Bud is the only way to get used to playing away from the Bud.

i love MA, i think hes a great coach. hes brought in good talent, and he has a proven resume. but if his schedule next year doesnt better challenge this team, then me and mike might have some problems.

Maybe this was just a fluke bad game, missed a TON of layups, shot terribly at the FT line, etc.

Played worse by a mile than any game in Maui.

All I got and can hope for.

MA certainly wasn't my first choice but I'm not throwing the season away after last night. They were due a bad game, I'm more curious how they come back over the next few games.

I've never seen anything like this. Don't get me wrong we're no juggernaut, but we have more then enough talent to win a road game. It has to be a mindset.

Mindset. Attitude. Swagger. Killer Instinct.

Whatever we call it, and it has many names, we do not have it. Yet.

Maybe we do start 4-1 in league play but we just lose to who we thought we would torch.

Everyone here knows what will happen, we will run Florida out of the gym in a few days.

We NEED to win the next two and hope we can carry that to Georgia.

Eh, maybe.

This team has both of those things and plenty of it. Or did. Qualls especially, Clarke too.

Killer Instinct.

Bingo. Blew a 22 point 2nd half lead to SMU, couldn't put the game away against ULL, they seem to get down and throw in the towel.

"we're playing like shite lets just get this 2nd half over with and head home" makes sense, we somehow played worse in the 2nd half than the 1st.

Just had a bad night, it happens. The difference between winning and losing this game rests on Qualls, our leading scorer who had more turnovers than points last night.

If he could have pulled his head out of his arse we would have won easily. This loss isn't on Anderson, it's on Qualls playing terribly.

He missed 4 shots within 1 foot of the bucket last night on one trip.

Good teams get beat by bad teams sometimes....I'm hoping this is what it is, but with our road history, it leads a person to jump off the Cliff quickly.

I don't have much to add other than I'm gonna start calling this coaching staff "Dirty Mike and the Boys".

Eta: or the team; I haven't decided which.
