Though police received reports of shots fired following the party, the incidents were not believed to have taken place at Austin’s or to have involved Sims.
Sgt. Mark Johnson said “marauding bands of juveniles” then filled the streets of downtown Monroe. Police received reports of shots being fired in the downtown area
Police discovered one man lying unconscious on Fourth Street. The victim said he’d been attacked by several suspects and beaten with a weapon. His wallet and cash had been stolen.
The party’s organizer and Sims’ mother, Chastity Butler, was issued a summons for allowing a disorderly place.
When asked about the Austin’s party, the phone went silent. Subsequent phone calls to reach Sims went straight to voice mail.
