In spring, someone's going to have to answer for a blown 21-3 lead. That's just unacceptable, and especially in the national title game.

Couldn't be that FSU is a really good team with a great offense. Nah.

Conservative play calling and not having a good backup plan when they figured out our offense was poor planning. I'm sure Gus will learn from this loss though.

They had a really good team. Gotta give them credit. We threw away the lead in the second half as much as they took it from us. We still should have won though.

We never got any pace going. FSU was fresh for the 4th.

Richt has lost control over our 21-3 lead.

Some of their D line was gassed in the 4th though. Our offense looked flat however. Where did Ray go? Guy had a Hell of a grab!

This is not your momma's football anymore. 21-3 is not a big lead. Teams have elite athletes and can score quickly. We just didn't execute offense well enough in the second half. Alot of that goes to their d - line. They were gassed at the end of the game but we scored too quickly. That drive should have been 40 sec longer.

I'm happy as ever that we made it this far. But that was the biggest blown lead in national championship history. Am I bitching? No. Concerned about play-calling? Yes. Telling someone to go it hell is extremely childish and immature. Don't be a peasant.

I agree 100%. They get all the credit in the world. They deserve it. The run game was stopped and they forced us to play behind the chains all night.

We didn't blow a big lead..we got outplayed by a better team

Exactly. 21-3 in the 2nd Q is not a huge lead at all. Ask Duke and KC what happened to them. Our defense played a great game especially in the first half. FSU wasn't undefeated for nothing. A missed TD pass on the first drive, a kick return, missed field goal, missed tackle in the last minute, a missed TD pass to Coates in the 4th Q etc, is what doomed us. Gus called a great game, we just came up a play short.

Special teams lost this game. FSU had the fastest man in CFB back there returning kicks (he set a national record in HS for the 100 meter). Parkey missed a FG and couldn't get touchbacks like he had all year.

That was the difference. Little things add up in big games. It is what it is. I can't say AU did anything wrong or was ill prepared. FSU made fewer mistakes when it mattered most.

We were up 21-3 because FSU was shell-shocked early and we took advantage of it. Some of those early passes by Winston were atrocious.

They came out late in the 2nd quarter/2nd half and started playing up to their ability. Their DL was completely dominating us in the 3rd, which kind of makes it hard to run our read/option and thus forcing us to rely on Nick Marshall's inconsistency. Jernigan in particular was completely dominating in the middle. Their offense started rolling as they adjusted to slow our pass rush, albeit their tackles were holding all game long and didn't get called once which obviously helped them in an area where they were getting abused.

Our offense worse down their line late in the 4th and put the game in our hands, but ultimately we made far too many mistakes against a team that was superior, and it cost us. Thats just the reality of this team, we made it really far and shocked everyone, but we were a FLAWED team. Too many holes/inconsistencies on defense, and too much inconsistency by Marshall in the passing game. This FSU team was too good to get away with giving up 100+ yard kick returns, or having guys collide on the final drive leading to a 49-yard gain.

Gus is known to be one of those coaches who obsesses over losses (he still thinks about a drive he screwed up on in a HS game he coached).

You can bet he will obsess over this one and learn a lot from it. I don't see him as a guy who lets things like this make him weaker. He will be stronger for it and AU will be better next year.
