Watched the 2008 SECCG the other night -- Dan Mullen was an excellent OC

what the hell happened? His playcalling in starkville the last several years is bland and predictable. Is it QB?... lack of talent and overall athleticism at the skill positions? Is the pressure/responsibility of being a HC too much?
Mullen's creativity with UF's offense was impressive... and was sorely missing in 2009 with Addazio.

That 2008 team was ridiculously stacked in all 3 phases of play.

very true... NFLers everywhere... how they managed to lose to Houston Nutt at home is beyond comprehension.

Pretty sure if we had Florida's 2008 talent Mullen would look a lot better.

Simple. Went from a midget at QB(Lee) -- to a guy that couldn't throw(Relf) -- to a guy that couldn't run(Russell). Dak is the first QB we've had that can actually run the UF offense in it's entirity.
We spent all offseason evolving into a hybrid pro-style team to fit Russell. Then we were scrambling to change it to fit Prescott, and it was a constant identity crisis for a period of time, really all the way until the bowl game.
Liberty Bowl playcalling was the best I've seen at MSU.

This. It's easy to look like a good coach when you have good players.
I think Mullen's a good coach, FWIW. I'm just one who supports the "Jimmies and Joes" side of the equation much more than the "X's and O's." You can scheme and plan all you want, but without talent you won't do a damn thing.

I thought Mullen didn't call plays after the Ole Miss game.

We had 13-14 NFL players, two first-team all-americans and two first round draft picks on our team that year.

That offense was kind of meh until the OM loss .

that went 9-4 and had jevan sneed as its QB... let's not act like they were the 2007 patriots...

They probably would have been even worse without Nutt. He made Snead...then Snead talked back to him, so he broke him.

Oregeron was terrible at OM

OM in '08 was a pretty-good football team. Orgeron recruited well - lot of talent left for Nutt. They would've given UF a run for their life at the end of the season as well.

I truly believe we were the best team in the West at the end of the season.

Urban Meyer called the plays.
