Are you talking about the community of Holiday Island? Next to Eureka Springs?

I love pretty much all of Carroll County, Ark.

Its about an hour from Branson, 45 minutes from Rogers/NWA, 1 hr 15 from Fayetteville.

Eureka Springs is a Victorian tourist town, odd mix of gay-friendly and Evangelical-friendly. Streetscape is very reminiscient of a Colorado mining town or small slice of N.O. or something.

Holiday Island is sort of like the suburb/retirement community of Eureka Springs. Its beautiful country, clear water, and pretty much idyllic as far as crime or nuisances. White folks, a few Mexicans, relatively mild summers for the south. Buy a jet ski.

You're welcome. I've pictured myself retiring over in that area some day. You have some good restaurants and a few bars in Eureka. Good shopping in Rogers or Branson. But you can live in the middle of nowhere on a mountain top or a lake with little hassle.

Two golf courses. One 18 holes the other 9.

Plenty of condos to rent. If you want to be near the lake, stay on the island. Good family vacation spot. Close enough to Branson that you can set a day aside to go up there and shop, eat, catch a show or whatever.

Eureka has a lot of shops that chicks seem to dig. If you're a believer, The Passion Play is worth going to see in Eureka. Also a pretty cool big cat rescue park/zoo in Eureka. You can get right up close to Lions, Tigers, Bears, Mountain Lions, Panthers, etc. most have been rescued because they were once pets, or because they had an illness and their zoo couldn't take care of them. Cat Rescue

We usually go to the island once a year at some point.

I've stayed in this complex before. These are just off the lake, most having lake views and about 1/2 mile from boat ramp if you're bringing a boat. This condo community also has a swimming pool.

Nice area. Every other year we have our ATLA convention in Eureka Springs and my wife and I had part of our honeymoon in cabins there years ago. Many people get married there at wedding chapels. It gets to be a bustling place more so in the summer. It really is a unique place--some call it the Little Switzerland of America. There was discussion of legalizing marijuana per ordinance in Eureka but I don't know where that ended up--you do have a little bit different culture in Eureka, not bad just a bit more artsy or hippie perhaps, but not so in Holiday Island that I can see anyway.

Nearby Holiday Island has golf, the lake and some nice homes. It has a gathering place called the Barn and I've been to events there before such as political events. It is a good place to visit and good place to take family--personally I don't know that I would want to live there unless I was retired though. Nearby Beaver is kind of a neat community too--it is on the river and has what they call the Little Golden Gate Bridge that is a one lane suspension type bridge. LINK Here's a link to the Chamber website which has photos. LINK And I need to add the railroad too, my son enjoyed that. LINK
