I'm sure it's been talked about plenty, but searched a few pages and didn't see anything.

How many big football games per week are likely to be shown on it?

Is it likely (or unlikely) that a deal will be worked out with the satellite providers before the start of next season?

If not, how quickly will someone from Alabama burn down the corporate offices of Dish or Direct?

I believe they are going to have a Gameday program similar to ESPN's with Tebow for sure on it. I am unsure who else will be. But I do know the first such Gameday will be at the SCAR/ATM game next season.

Will have SEC gameday from each SEC campus every week.

Will have THREE games every Saturday -- and have the option of putting whatever non-CBS games they want on there to force the hands of the cable providers that hold out.

Basically everyone in the southeast will carry it by launch date IMO.

yeah, I saw that, and it's what prompted me to ask the question...so far, there has been no agreement with the new channel and either satellite provider. (that I know of)

how will that work for the satellite providers?

from this article...

quote:

On negotiations with SEC: “We haven’t started to look at it yet.” Referring to fans in other parts of the U. S. who are not the slightest bit interested in the conference, White said, “One of the issues will be, who am I taxing?”

that sounds very tricky to me...

My concern is those of us in other parts of the country. I generally use ESPN3 for most games as it is so I'm hoping that will still be possible.

Yes, I agree...but I will be disappointed if all of the games that used to kick off on ESPN or ESPN2 between 630pm and 8pm, won't be available on Dish or Direct because they have been moved to the SEC Network.

(and overall exposure to the SEC will shrink too, which could be bad for high school athletes outside of the SEC that might be considering playing for one of the SEC schools - or is that dumb logic?)

This is a classic positioning tactic for negotiations because they don't want to overpay. It'll be available before the season starts.

So we are still going to have CBS games as well, and will ESPN be broadcasting other SEC games that the network doesn't take?

Doesn't equate to any less coverage for us, just an extra option to see more games?

Also any idea on pricing for it?

I apologize for the thread hijack ...

... but would my DirecTV SEC brothers and sisters from another mother please click the following link ("Demand the SEC Network now"):

Get the SEC Network on DirecTV

I can't lose my DirecTV over this issue (and if push comes to shove, I will).
I've zero doubt that they'll (DirecTV) cave at the final minute; but I'd rather not wait until late summer to find out.

Thank you.
I now return you to your previously clicked thread.

What parts of the country would that be? The Dakotas? Montana?

How much is this going to cost us? The only goal of this is to make $$$ off of us.

I know this doesn't affect most schools but I am worried about the baseball coverage. LSU fans have become used to being able to see mid week and non televised games on GeauxZone. I think we won't get as much coverage as we are getting now.

As an Astros fan, I have become naturally skiddish about these TV deals...but in agree with one of the posters above, direct will cave on this one...
