Is it me or do we even come up with a game plan to attack defenses? Every team we play formulates a game plan to attack our defense and the ones with the talent to execute have success and win, but it seems to me that we never game plan our offense to attack vulnerabilities of the opposing defense. We just throw on first down get away from the run when its working. No need to utilize Black, Howard or "Smaug". If you ask me Kenyon Drake doesn't even deserve to be on the field. We should never put combinations of players on the field that are impossible to defend because the are match up nightmares, no just keep doing what we do.
I mean we had 500 yards of offense, imagine if we realized that we had to win a shout out and tried to make sure we scored on every possession.

Our game plan was fine, like you said we had over 500 yards of offense. the 5 turnovers will blunt your scoring every day.
Like Coach Bryant says in the damn video we play before every game "What wins always wins, we just have a bunch of different excuses when we lose". Turnovers aren't an excuse they are a cause. Under AJ we've been an offense that won a lot of games because they were extremely productive and didn't turn the ball over. Its just all four losses were the exact same script. We uncharacteristically turned the ball over.

I think we are adapting to the new era. We have recruited the right type of players the past two years. Particularly all types of DL. Step two is to adjust our conditioning to prepare our D for the speed of the game. Last step I think is to completely install a hunh offense and run practice at that pace. Our D has to have experience adjusting on the fly and getting up quick enough to prepare for the next play.
We can use whatever speed we want during the game, but I fully believe that is our best bet to be the best hurry up D.

Abandon ball control? You guys realize the No huddle isn't new nor is it the only tempo that is key to winning football right?

No one wants to abandon ball control, but when pressed we have to utilize all of our strengths. I mean it was so funny because everyone was calling for a fumble and by god T.J. came thru. That is a very scary tendency. Why not give Henry more carries all year. If you are afraid that the d will pick up on trends just put him in with another back to throw off the scent. Utilize all of the talent we have stock piled.

This post feels like it belongs in the Fire Nuss thread. We have OJ Howard. Did we use him? No. We gashed them with the screen pass to the running back. How many times did we utilize it when they blitzed?
Same thing with AU. We didn't try to test their unproven DBS. We ran the ball when it wasn't working. Yeldon was injured and yet we chose to ride that horse into the ground instead of calling on Henry. I don't care how many yards Nuss puts up. His game plan is random and doesn't play to our strengths, minimiz our weaknesses, and prey on their weaknesses. Every game plan looks the same.

The situation with Henry is the same as every other back under Saban. Saban isn't going to play a back unless they can do more than just run the ball. He isn't going to play a freshman if they can't do all the pass pros. Hence Yeldon only getting more carries as a freshman as he learned the offense, same thing with Drake and Henry. Henry is a special case because of when he got hurt. He probably was probably way behind Yeldon and Drake when it came to pass pro. Healing from that broken leg means he probably missed most if not all of the pass skelly work this summer.

The playbook for the Auburn game and OU game got swapped somehow. Had Bama come out in the Iron Bowl passing like in the Sugar, they would have destroyed Auburn. Had Bama been determined to run the ball in the Sugar like in the Iron Bowl, they would have beaten OU. Bama didn't go after the weakness of either team. Auburn's pass defense and OU's rush defense. Guess Saban wanted to do things the hard way.
