Guys, its time. Up-tempo/HUNH

Its time to go AT LEAST up tempo with our offense. HUNH would not hurt my feelings. Maybe with our defense going up against it all the time in practice all offseason our defense will continue to grow along with our staff. Its painfully obvious to everyone that up tempo HUNH really gives us fits.

HUNH won't do a damn thing as long as we don't have an OLine..

I agree. Last year against A&M should have been a wake up call.

Our O is fine minus some predictable play calling (and questionable choices at RB) at times.
We need D-linemen who can pressure the QB without having 1-2 LBs blitzing at the same time and we need better athletes in the secondary.

Pound the ball with an effective running game and you minimize the opportunities an up-tempo offense has to put up points.
Most effective defense there is against the no-huddle.

Offense isn't the problem. With no lockdown corners in the secondary and no big man to clog the middle, our defense isn't as efficient as years past. Without consistent pass pressure with a good pass rusher, good qb's can pick apart a suspect secondary. Bama's problem isn't on the offensive side of the ball except for play calling at times and a suspect left tackle.

This is a bigger problem than our offensive scheme.

You're an idiot. How would that help? I think what you meant to say was how do we adjust the DEFENSE to causing problems for the HUNH and expose it's weaknesses.
Posted on 1/3/14 at 10:26 am to rammerjammer24
Yes, because, obviously what Bama is doing isn't working. We could have won a lot more games if we'd change some shite up.
Every system has its weaknesses. There is no perfect way to do things. You pick what you believe in and do that as best you can.

I agree with everything thing you said about the defense. We need another giant NT.
But, the O-line has been a problem on offense. If the defense was what it has been in the past, they could have overcome it, but it wasn't.

We knew the O-line would be a step down the moment the team left the field after raping Notre Dame. Next year should be much improved with a year's experience.

HUNH doesn't fix turnovers, poor blocking and the secondary. Nor the person calling the plays.
Adjustments the 2nd half did a lot to counter what they were doing. I think we just get stubborn sometimes sticking with something that isn't working at the moment.

Yes, we did. But, I expected them to come together and be a good run blocking line by the end of the year. That didn't really happen. Because of that, teams were able to dictate what Bama did on offense.

It seems they regressed. It was shocking to me. Penalties, holds and just getting blown off the line happened more, late in the season, than early, with the exception of the Va Tech game.

Our offense isn't the problem.

Yep, why would a team that has a reputation for being a great ball control offense in the age of Fast Paced O change?

Apparently your missing the whole point about it helping the defense as well. It will also help our defensive staff i believe and maybe we wont be so shell shocked by it. Not saying our offense is a problem but with our talent it would be hard see it being anything other than productive.

With as many teams that are running a hurry up, there's no excuse for not being shell shocked.
