That earlier this season said they wanted to bench Murray and go ahead with HM?

With 100% healthy skill players and improved OL play, Mason could be serviceable, but he is no where near the level that Murray has played at the past two seasons. Those who wanted to bench Murray for Mason at the start of the season just weren't living in reality.

Unless you have a truly exceptional QB waiting for the starter to leave or go down with an injury, you need game experience to get them seasoned. Murray was good but not great during his first season as the starter and he got better as he got more experience.

Unfortunately, Mason doesn't look like much more than a slightly-improved version of Joe Cox. He will be serviceable for one season, and then we'll see who our next 3- or 4-year starter will be (Park, maybe?).

The QBs who come in fresh from the bench and make a run for the Heisman are usually duel-threats who boost their stats with their legs. We don't run that kind of offense, though, so a pro-style QB will usually need some time to find their stride, which means they will need help in the process. I don't think Mason will turn into a Murray or Greene during the next few months, so we have to hope he's good enough to help us win some games next year and look to the future.

I'd love to have 2 or 3 Brady's or Manning's on our team at all times, but that just isn't reality.

Then we deal with a season or two of park or Ramsey getting "experience". When does this excuse go away?

How is mason playing next year in any way "looking to the future". It's a lost season and completely pointless. Mason will be avg at best IMO.

The excuse doesn't go away. We have to recruit better in the trenches and get our defense rolling and we won't care if we have a Heisman QB or not.

We shouldn't need a QB like Murray to win games for us. Look at this season: we were putting up tons of points and barely won games, or lost games, because our defense couldn't keep teams out of the end zone.

Even if Mason came out next season playing just as well as Murray was doing this season, we have to have improvement in other areas before it will make any difference.

Richt just doesn't have it in him to make changes and progress as a coach. He doesn't fix glaring issues and when he tries it's a day late and a dollar short. His best days are behind him.

This game is a great snap shot of everything wrong with uga...the coaching blunders...the special teams problems....the total lack of development on defense and overall bad scheme...the ridiculously bad preparation mentally for a game everyone knew was going to be a hard one to motivate for....Its just the attitude and results on the field are apparent. Its time for a change at UGA...I have defended Richt for long enough. UGA is stale.

Exactly sandwich. I'm not even excited for next year bc we're not really developing or building to anything. At least it feels that way.
