I really want to go on one. My church is planning one for this summer to go to Cambodia but I'm not sure that will hold up.

May try to get in on my sister's church's trip to Ecuador in March.

Just wondering what experiences you guys have had.

Yes.

Mexico several times (mainly Juarez before it got bad), Venezuela, Aruba, Nicaragua, and Pennsylvania.

We're looking at getting involved with our church's ongoing missions in Ukraine or Rwanda.

Very rewarding experience all around. I've had some where I felt like I contributed very little but all of them have been a blessing.

Most amazing experience was Venezuela where we were in a very remote village and got to do a ton of amazing things and see a church grow immensely.

I have not had such an experience and therefore cannot offer much advice, however I would not think this is a good idea.

So I've heard. My gf went to Nicaragua last summer and she said it was a life changing experience.

Aslavey, sincere question. Does you organization have any outreach? If you're just trolling than never mind but would be curious on how the organization works.

went on a mission trip to Mexico..handed out abx to the whole community as everybody wanted them whether they needed them or not..I'm a GI doc and tried to get onto the house building team after two days but no luck..good experience but medical skills aren't necessary while the physical labor is very beneficial

I went to Ecuador while I was in college.

Wild place. Did some trout fishing way up in the Andes, and went deep into the Amazon basin on by far the worst and most dangerous road I have ever been on in my entire life. Bargained with indians for things and ate some monkey in a casserole. Yep. Monkey.

Glad I went. Not sure I'd want to go back.

No organized outreach. In fact, in real life you would not be able to identify a true satanist. For obvious reasons, there is a concerted effort to blend in without calling attention. Any spread of ideas is typically done through the questioning of conventional theistic concepts rather than a direct recruitment effort.

So more in a relational effort case by case?

That's a fair assessment.

Interesting. I know being public with that in even this day and age would be tough.

Even though I'm a Christian I think y'all should have the freedom to be open with that.

I found building trips to be my favorite. We were in some rough outer areas of Juarez and over the course of 5 years we moved the majority of homes from pallets to cinder block and brought in running water.

We built a clinic that mission teams from all over the nation worked on over a few years. Very cool to have that connection with others.

Saddest thing is that area is now ran by the drug lords.

Not sure how much you know about LaVeyanism, but it does not involve the worship of a deity, namely Satan or any others. It is an atheistic approach with the rest being symbolic.

Went to Saltillo back in 11th grade, helped hand out stuff donated from back home with the mission down there. I believe they had to shut down traveling when all the cartel crap started heating up. Remember the priest showing us an old lady's 5 by 8 shack, really clean for having a dirt floor, but smelled like diesel. The priest said they use that in their homes to keep the dust down. Puts USA living in perspective.

I don't know all the details but it's not like I think y'all are sacrificing humans.... Are you?

I'm just saying that it's not something you can be as open with as told by the few I've met in the past.

This is absolutely true. Certainly the more ritualistic aspects of LaVeyanism are held close to the vest.

I'm older and slightly more conservative about the dangers I decide to voluntarily face.

But Ecuador is amazingly beautiful. If you get the chance - go for it.

I just talked to the organizer and he says it's currently full but that he would see if they couldn't squeeze one more in considering we are family .
