I've heard of the Big 6. Which ones are the Little Six?

Traditional Big Six:

AU, Bama, LSU (West) and Florida, UGA, Tenn (East)

Traditional Little Six (Since 90s expansion):

Ole Miss, MSU, Ark (West) and USCe, Vandy, UK (East)

Vandy, UK, and MSU seem they'll remain in little six status in perpetuity. Ole Miss isn't much different though they seemingly have more potential for bigger things, notwithstanding their lack of ability to reach Atlanta.

If you think Tennessee is in the little six, who do you think is in the big six?

The only recent change would be subbing Tenn for USCe in the big 6.

Obviously the addition of A&M and Mizzou might make it necessary to speak in terms of big 7/little 7, but we need to wait until they've been in the SEC for 5 years before we can say for certain how they change things.

We should go UN security council style and do permanent and rotating seats. Right now we'll give Seat 6 to SCAR, although I think Mizzou or TAMU will take it soon.

Permanent Little 6 members are MSU, UK, Ole Miss, Arky, Vandy, with one leftover. I considered putting Ole Miss and Arky in the rotation, but come on, they've blown their chance.

It's not determined by recent success.

The big six consists of the six teams that have won the SECCG.

We also don't have 12 teams in the SEC. Things change.

Is this just a message board thing?

No all 6 members have a banner somewhere in their stadium showing their status.

It's more than that, IMO. Let's say missouri had won the SEC this year, would that make it the big 7?

Of course not. It's built on decades upon decades of history. The big 6 are clearly, unquestionably, the 6 best SEC programs all time historically.

We will have to see how USCe does without Spurrier. They have had very little success without him. They certainly have built a quality program under him. Only time will tell how they do once he is gone.

UT is teetering with hanging on to their Big Six title, IMO. I think Butch is a good coach. He must recruit Florida better than previous staff's have.

SCAR needs to win a SECCG ... they'll do it before Mizzou will do it. Mizzou benefitted greatly from facing UGA and Florida after both had been decimated by injuries, as did SCAR in the case of UF.

Tennessee is just down, way down. SCAR shite the bed in Knoxville, they've just got our number for some reason. But Tennessee has been down for quite some time now and I'm honestly not sure how long it is going to take them to climb out of the hole they've dug for themselves.

A&M is not going to break into the Big 6 playing in the West. Plus SCAR now becomes A&M's permanent opponent from the East ... A&M is going to have a very tough row to hoe while trying to maintain ten win success with their yearly schedule.

No, the big 6 shaped the divisions we have today. 3 on each side. The SEC itself called these teams the "big 6" as well

I think A&M will more resemble Auburn and LSU from about 95 to 2004 or so, where they were up and down, largely mediocre with a couple of shots to have a run at the title. Of course, that feat will be tougher having to play AU/LSU/UA, especially of those three keep up a pace of winning double digit games every year. Eventually I expect TAMU to settle in between those three and Ole Miss, though they certainly have the resources to play above that.
