Here’s a look, school by school, at the JUCO and high school prospects who reportedly will be on campus in January, prepping for the 2014 season a bit earlier than the others.

Tennessee is preparing for war!

UT is taking recruiting at all cost to a new level. CBJ is in the mindset of cutting, greyshirtig, blueshiriting, whatever it takes to get UT back to relevance and I think it will work. With that many kids coming in and with all the attrition you have to think it will be a much better team in the future....it's turning into the nfl with all the cutting an what not.

Butch's process > Saban's process
Tweet of Junior OL Alan Posey who was told to transfer
Paul Harris, Tino Thomas and Tom Smith were just released from their scholarship last week. If they suck and don't pan out it's good to release them imo.

@CozyPosey67 Major college athletics is a dirty, dirty business. I can vouch for that. I hope all these young guys know what they're getting into.

"We have three individuals we have signed their releases, Paul Harris, Tino Thomas and Tom Smith," Jones said. "We have allowed them to explore further options."
Harris, a true freshman wide receiver from Accokeek, Maryland played in five games for the Vols this season. He caught one pass for 15 yards in the season opener.
Thomas, a defensive back, signed with Tennessee out of Memphis in 2011 as a grayshirt. He redshirted in 2012 before appearing in three games for the Vols this season on special teams.
Smith, a redshirt sophomore running back out of Apopka, Florida carried the ball 24 times this season, mostly in games that had already been decided. He redshirted last season.
Jones indicated more roster turnover could be coming. The Vols will welcome 14 early enrollees in early January, before the additional 20 or so members of the 2014 class enroll in June.
"As we all know the world of college football is ever changing," Jones said of the roster.

UGA?
We are taking a small class (about 20) and only one JUCO, and he's not an EE. That's where a lot of EEs come from. Besides that, apparently this class is not one of academic overachievers. That leaves us with just our QB commit in Park.

And of course it would happen when you are talking about academics.

When else would it happen?

I kinda wish coach richt would attempt this in order to compete but it won't happen. Pretty soon if you aren't cutting kids you will be the only team not doing it.

I'm sure we would have liked to keep Paul Harris for WR depth. But Harris, Tino Thomas and Tom Smith asked to be released - Butch gave them an unconditional release - what's despicable about that?

uT has over signed by a good bit. That means some kids had to go either willingly or unwillingly.

I normally agree with you but I don't mind it with a new coaching staff trying to cull some of the guys that don't fit their schemes. The kids are there to play football and if they don't fit the new coaching staff's vision of what they want to do, then it is in both their interests to transfer out.
Now if the kid says that he would rather stay and ride pine for 3 years and never play over transferring somewhere else, I wouldn't force him to leave.

I wouldn't use a scholarship on him though.

Plus these kids may have done something that the coaches didn't want to bring out to the press and that was the condition was that they would leave at season's end. You never know what goes on behind the closed doors at major programs.

Why??
Most of these players only care about 'Next Level - NFL', they are not coming in for education. Thats a FACT, so deal with it!!!!
They jump ship the first chance they get; gone are those days when kids will actually stay for their senior year. If kids are like that, then coaches should treat them the same.....they are all dispensable!!! This is a business, with coaches getting paid more than ever....they have to produce results.
