the current episode is QBs. They do the top 10 in SEC history in different categories. Well, they have declared that the best QB in SEC history is Danny Wuerffel.

I have to wholeheartedly disagree there, and it has nothing to do with the college he played for. I know this is such a chicken and egg argument, but IMO if you're throwing to Ike Hilliard, Reidel Anthony, and Jaquez Green even Joe Cox could look good. DW won a natty and a Heisman, which is great. But I mean does anyone, florida fans included, really think he's the BEST quarterback in SEC history?

Had Cam played more seasons he would easily be number 1. However, Wuerffel was a beast and deserves number 1 for his amazing college ability. Tim Tebow should also be very high.

because if he played at UG with the same results this thread wouldn't exist.

Got your UF dig in even on Christmas Day. Congrats.

I think a legitimate argument could be made for Wuerffel.

what's your deal pops? Tebow was #2 and I had no problem with it, I wouldn't have a problem if he was #1 either. Spurrier was in there, as was Cam (former UF player). All are perfectly justifiable.

I just thought Wuerffel, a largely forgotten player outside of gainesville, being the greatest QB in SEC history was a little odd. Sinkwich won a title and a heisman as well and wasn't even on the list..I don't care. I can see reasons why he should be left off. Just thought it was a questionable selection.

There's no way I can remember the place numbers. But the QBs were, in some order:

peyton, archie, and eli manning
cam
tebow (2)
spurrier
tim couch
wuerffel (1)
pat sullivan
manziel (10)

I am pushing 50. Wuerffel is the best college QB, as far as pure passer, I have ever seen. Deadly accurate. Could throw the fade pattern into a garbage can at 35 yards.

So if you're forming an all time SEC team, like as in every player in SEC history, DW is your starting QB?

I have to disagree. I acknowledge throwing timing patterns is an artform that he mastered in college. But again, he had 3 of the best WRs in the decade all on the same team to throw to, plus another one that was an SEC record setter. DW would be a little down the list if I'm starting an all time team.

I would take DW and would not flinch. Dude was not only good....he was also pretty clutch. Great college qb.

If I have to pick one QB, it would be Cam. Cam could beat you in other ways than just throwing. If I am asked who the best pure passer I have seen in my life is, Wuerffel. This isn't the first, nor the last, time I will give that answer. Again, dude was deadly accurate throwing the ball. His fade ball was indefensible.

If DW played at UG you wouldn't have a problem with him being at #1 on this arbitrary list. You certainly wouldn't have bothered starting the thread. You say it doesn't have anything to do with his college of choice. I think it does based on the first sentence in this post. No biggie.

Anyway, DW would be my first choice to throw passes to the greatest SEC WRs of all time. Heck yeah.

Because DW had good WRs he should receive less credit. I'm good with that as long as we say Aaron Murray wouldn't have been so good without his good/great WRs and TEs. Fair enough? I mean, obviously AM would be nothing without them.

Agreed. I am a bit biased though...he was a senior when I was a freshman at FWBHS. He is literally the nicest guy you'll ever meet. He had every reason in the world to be a cocky SOB, but absolutely was not. I was in The Swamp to see him win the state championship. Will always remember it and him as one of the good guys. Best in the SEC ever? Maybe, maybe not. But don't pretend like he isn't in the conversation.

Whose alter are you? Judging by your post history you seem to be a UGA fan, just don't know who.

I have already said if Tebow, ya know..another UF QB, was #1, I wouldn't have any issues whatsoever. And he was #2, and again..no problems with that. So your "oh heheh WG is so biased against UF" argument is null.

I never said he should receiver "less credit". I'm saying that throwing to the 3 or 4 guys he was throwing to is obviously going to make things easier for him, and I don't think that the result of that should make him the BEST qb in SEC HISTORY.

Aaron Murray wouldn't have been so good without his good/great WRs

lol. You can't even begin to put together a receiving core murray has thrown to that has even come within a mile of hilliard/green/anthony/doering.

Your bias was clear by equating Joe Cox and DW. Crystal clear.

Apparently you have so much of a personal bias against me you can't even read anything else I type.

Did I say Joe Cox would be a heisman winner? nope. I said those guys "could make him look good". So basically, I'm saying:

1)Those 3 receivers are so incredibly good that they can make any QB look better than they are, and
2)Joe Cox wasn't really that good.

That's both a compliment to UF and an insult to a UGA qb at the same time.

If you want to argue semantics, at least make sure you don't look stupid in the process.
