How big of a spectacle are these in other SEC states? We just finished them up this weekend in Texas and it is just fantastic. They play in Jerryworld and play 3 games a day on Thursday, Friday, Saturday starting with 6 Man and going all the way to 5A last night. They have over 54k come out for the 5A Div I game yesterday. It's great as well because you can see so many prospects play.

What do they do in other SEC states?

They probably have no idea. Hoover is probably the only thing in Dixie that compares.

Play in War Memorial in Little Rock over two weekends. I think the biggest crowd I've ever seen was somewhere between 20-25K.

I went to Hoover HS where we go to state every year and I haven't been to a state final or cared since I was a junior in HS, so I guess it's not a big deal here unless you're from a small school playing in it that doesn't go very often

The place so shitty it delayed the Super Bowl for like 30 minutes last year, right?

Probably because most of us don't care other than potential recruits.

In Missouri, we play at the Edwards Jones dome in STL... Usually 2 games per day like yours and the bigger class championships are pretty much always between a team in KC and a team from STL...

its pretty meh in terms of attendance and atmosphere...

I have never understood why anybody has given two fricks about high school football. It's equivalent to caring about the WNBA or the Little League World Series or any college sport that isn't football, basketball or baseball.

Well that MTV show lied to me I thought y'all were more Texas-like. Guess y'all all really do suck at caring about football.

Guess someone wasn't a fan of Friday Night Lights or Varsity Blues. You need to get that Scot Kahn/James Van Der Beek jealousy out of here.

This year they played the championship games at the Superdome. The start times hurt attendance (Thursday, early Friday for some) so hopefully that will change. Another big difference this year is splitting the private and public schools, due to the big advantage of some of our little football factories.

They filmed that show when I was in 9th and 10th grade and I was pretty crazy about it then. A lot of people in town do get way too into Hoover football, just not me. I have more important things than HS football to care about.. like college football.

You're stupid. Nothing else really to be said.

Big Texas HS football fan here. Plano and PESH fan. What Allen did to East was demoralizing.

I'm about to put my house on the market and it looks like I will be buying in Prosper. We will still be making the trek to Plano. There's not much that compares to Friday nights here in Texas.

That's surprising to me. I would think in many SEC states you would have prospects all over the place in the championship games. For instance in the last 2 games yesterday there were probably at least 25 kids that will end up playing FBS ball between the 4 teams. They run some pretty advanced offenses and defenses and you can see some incredible talents.

I would think especially in Louisiana and Florida there would be some great games.

Can't speak for Florida but definitely in Louisiana. A lot of our recruits come from these games.

I've lived in other SEC states and HS football just doesn't compare in general, so it's not all that surprising. There are exceptions, but there's a reason why you don't see stadiums like Allen's all over Alabama or Miss.

If my former high school isn't playing in the championship game, then I couldn't care less. I would never watch a game that isn't 6A.
