They seem to have the recipe for doing well in the SEC. A solid running game. Good up front, especially on defense. Typically pretty good secondary.

They were the only team in the SEC in 2011 to fight LSU and Alabama for 4 quarters. This year, the combined record of the teams they lost to was 60-13, with a heartbreaking loss to Auburn, again. They held Oklahoma St to 21, Bama to 20 and Auburn to 24. They almost beat Auburn the last time they played in the national title game.

It just feels like every year they are so close. Why can't they have a season like Auburn this year and win every close game?

Hang in there, Bulldogs. Your time will come.

Too soon?

I'm half serious though. If they played in any other conference in America, they probably average 10 wins a season over the last 4 years.

Dawgs will make noise next year. Don't know how much but it will be more than we're used to.

Close to what? I respect their heart, but they're little brother to Ole Miss. Say that to yourself a few times...Ole Miss' lil bro.

no need to get their hopes up...Mullen will keep them 6-6 or so for a while...maybe if they weren't in the SEC they'd do better but there is no way they get higher than 4th in the west any time soon

You could probably say that about any team in the SEC outside of Kentucky. I'm not really sure that is a good evaluation tool.

Problem is all their wins are against teams they should beat, like 0 and something against ranked teams under Mullen and still do not have a legitimate victory against a west powerhouse. Mullen has done a good job in getting MSU somewhat competitive on a consistent basis. Next year will be key, they return a QB and some of the other teams like LSU and Bama will be breaking in new ones.

If they played in the east, they would have a decent shot at the championship game much like USCe or Mizzou. The SEC West is just too loaded right now for them to have much hope.

Keep that up and you may crawl out of the shadow Oxford casts. You have a good coach and have been recruiting better. But the Christian dude from Blindeside is a good coach/recruiter too.

Egg Bowl does have a chance to determine who wins 9 games.

I just hope our team stays focussed after we beat LSU again.
