Current record is 8.5 games in 1999 by Hawaii. They went from 0-12 to 9-4. .692

We currently are tied with them at 8.5 games.

9-1 = 8

9 & 8 = 8.5

ETA - 9 better in the wins column, 8 better in the loss column.

some odd way they calculate it to try to amend for the fact that a team may play more games one year than the last. That is kind of silly to me, considering that the reason the team is able to play more games (conference championship game, bowl game) is because of how much they improved.

Big 12 teams don't get conference championships. It makes sense

Yeah, if we lose it goes to an 8 game turnaround. Win and it goes to a 9 game turnaround.
