I feel old. I may be 15-20 years older than you jokers.
I know about cats if you have a question. My wife has always had one or two.

Roommate has a cat, and he's decided that he likes the den carpet as an alternative to his litter box. I've been reading on ways to make a cat stop peeing on carpet, and what I've come up with is:
-steam clean the carpet, and
-move his food/water bowls to that area (cause they don't want to eat where they eliminate).
Do y'all have any other suggestions?

top suggestion: oops roommate you must have left the window open and your cat is gone.
does your roommate clean the litter box often?

How old is the cat? How often is the box being cleaned? Is the box big enough? Is the box in an area the cat feels is secure or safe?
Is the cat pissed about something? Sometimes if cats get mad they act out that way. Also they'll do it if something is wrong with them healthwise. Probably wouldn't hurt to get a vet to check the cat over. Some cats get crystals in their intestines (something like that) that makes urination very difficult and painful.

my moms cat has a habit of pissing in my sisters bed about once a year. When it happens they take her to the vet and she usually has something wrong.

I'm not throwing her cat outta the window that's just mean. Plus, I like the fluffy little shite.

He's a couple of years old I think, and the box is being cleaned at least every other day (will start doing it every day now). The first time he did it was when she moved in. We think that was him "marking" his area. Unfortunately he seems to have remembered it
I'll suggest taking him to the vet for a checkup.
