I couldn't fit it all in the topic, so my question actually is the below.

Is there any team still running the Wildcat/direct snap more than once or twice a game?

TIA.

USC with Pharoh Cooper

Sealed the game against Clemson with a jump pass out of it

eta- Now that I think about it I guess that TD wasn't technically out of the Wildcat, but we do run out of it a good deal and the frequency increased as the year went on.

Nope. UF is not in a bowl game. Our former OC loved the wildcat.

Huh? That was an incredibly popular and successful formation. Hell, it sealed the win for UA against USCe with Ingram running it.

I just found myself wondering why I don't see it as much anymore.

It appears that this fad was figured out. Amazing really, it appeared unstoppable and even worked against the best NFL defenses. Several years later though and it's basically obsolete. Defenses figured it out after a while.

How did they do that? Was there a wholesale change in relation to D? DMac went to the league? What was it?

well for starters if you have someone under center that can't throw it gives the defense a pretty good idea of whats coming

Very few were actually "running" the entire Wildcat package, certainly not throwing it.

Most wildcat Qbs couldnt hit the side of a barn from 10 yards is my line of thinking. If you truly honor the QB in such a formation that leaves at least 1 player uncovered.

Vanderbilt stills runs it, and are quite effective with it imo. They probably use it at least 5 plays a game

I bet Bo would be really good at getting those presents waaaaaay back behind the Christmas tree.

The guy looked very limber and flexible stretching out in the Egg Bowl.

Exactly. That is why we had so much success running it. An NFL RB at QB who probably had a better arm than our actual QB or could hand off to another NFL RB. DMAC and Felix being very different backs also contributed to making it so hard to stop. Combine that with a pretty solid offensive line and a decent possession receiver and you have a pretty awesome albeit simple offense.

Few have had as much success as we did, but far more teams have gone to running QBs since then too.

We did it with Kiehl Frazier a few times, I think to make him feel useful.

I swear I have seen a few NFL teams this year run it a couple times, but probably no more than 3 times in a game.
