Oregon to the Sugar Bowl? Why not?

Alabama - Oregon was the presumed championship game. Why didn't the Sugar Bowl match the ducks and tide.

It seems to me a more interesting match-up than Alabama - Oklahoma, and I think Oregon fans would have spent much more money in a trip to the Big Easy.

I am anxious to see how well Sooner fans do on their ticket allotment and sales to the bowl in general.

Did the SEC powers in Birmingham hand-pick Alabama's opponent?

Honestly, bama fans - I am not trying to troll you. You're going to roll the sooners. Oregon would have made things interesting and good fun.

It's more about money than "fun matchups."

and yeah, look at what Stanford did to them.

I really don't know how Oregon-Texas will go because of how bipolar those two teams are.

This could be a matchup of the 2 most unmotivated/uninspired teams in the nation right now.

Have you ever met an Oregon fan? I haven't. I'm sure you can find some real Duck fans in the Pacific Northwest, but elsewhere, the only Duck fans you are going to find are the lamest frontrunners imaginable. They aren't going to shell out money to see a two loss Oregon team get annihilated by Bama.

In contrast, OU has some dedicated mouthbreathers who will make the trip to New Orleans just for the hell of it.

Which PAC12 team could the media ride next season as the greatest of all-time IF the Ducks were to beaten by an SEC runner-runner up?

You're in Wichita Falls - of course, you know OU fans.

Last year the SEC seemed to take the bowl invites and slot teams to them.

Oregon is exactly the sort of team Coach Saban hates to play AND Stoops and the Sooners are a perfect opponent for the tide.

As far as sooner support of the Sugar Bowl, let's wait and see how sales go in Norman, OK. OU has a huge fan base but I am not certain they'll travel to see this match-up.

They will travel better than Oregon would have imo.

You know a bunch of OU fans and no Oregon fans when you live in Witchita Falls? No shite? I wonder why that might be?

And to answer the question, yes, I do know a few Oregon fans. They live in Colorado which is where they moved after they graduated from Oregon. The average Oregon person isn't going to move to Texas just like the average Oklahoma person won't move to Washington. Use your brain brah.

Oregon is one of the most bandwagoned teams in the country because of MUH SPEED MUH TEMPO MUH OFFENSE MUH JERSEYS MUH 89 POINTS AGAINST D4 SCHOOLS

These frickers are all over the place. I don't see how you non of you haven't met a lot of Oregon "fans"

Those guys are all Miami Heat fans, or Boston Red Sox fans, too. They just wear whichever t-shirt they think is the coolest, at the time. They aren't going to be motivated enough to go to New Orleans as an underdog.

Well, of course. That's not the point. I asked if the rest of the board (mostly concentrated in the SE) knew any Oregon fans. So far, we've got one guy from Colorado who knows an actual Oregon alum.

OU's been around long enough to have a dedicated following whose first allegiance is to OU. Oregon "fans" are mostly run-of-the-mill frontrunners whose wardrobe includes clothing representing the champs of various sports.

This.

Whenever I see someone around town in Oregon garb, I want to kick them square in the nuts. If you've never gone west of Tulsa and you're wearing Ducks gear, you're the epitome of a bandwagoner.

I've met a few Oregon "fans" here and there, none of whom have ever set foot in the state, let alone Eugene. I'm sure they're UO fans because ZOMG LOOK AT ALL THE POINTS!

I'd wager that most Oregon fans own a piece of Patriots, Heat, Lakers, Alabama, Yankees, Red Sox, and/or Cowboys clothing, though the latter is a bit questionable.

If this is a real question, probably has something to do with the pending Big XII/SEC matchup that will start next year for the Sugar Bowl.

I know Oregon fans in Dallas...

We can only wait and see how BOTH sooner and Tide fans do on ticket sales.

As a college football fan, I THINK Oregon - Alabama is more interesting AND as a supporter of my home state, I think Oregon - Alabama would mean more money for New Orleans.
