Would Vandy go to the NC if they were undefeated?

After an 8-4 season, they are going to the BBVA Compass bowl.

4 teams that are 8-4 or worse were picked before them.

Thoughts?

TIA

If they went 13-0 and won the SECCG then of course they would.

Do not know if they would but they should. As far as them getting passed over this bowl system I think it is wrong but they are more worried about money than competition.

Once you get past the BCS autobids it's about the money and fan pull. Music City Bowl wasn't going to take them in multiple years because of the fan turnout and the potential to take a team that would bring more fans to the city (i.e. Ole Miss who brought more fans to Vandy this season than Vandy). I'm assuming Liberty felt the same.

It sucks for Vandy but unfortunately it is what it is.

They certainly have the last two years to their bowl games.

bullshite.

That is an overhead shot from the 1st quarter. Not saying Ole Miss doesn't travel well, but let's not pretend they took over the stadium.

Quite a bit of red sprinkled throughout even in the "Vandy" sections.

Surely you're not arguing that Vandy has a strong fan following and that attendance wasn't an issue in bowls passing you up?

You mean the ones in Nashville and Memphis?

Just trying to debunk the myth that Vandy doesn't attend bowl games. 57K and 55K with little help from Cincy or NC State.

No, I'm not making that argument at all. I'm simply stating that the problem is being exaggerated in many of the comments here. And particularly so in the case of bowl games, where we tend to travel better than our home attendance would indicate we should.

Vandy averages 35K to HOME games with visiting fans. So I would bet you had some help getting to those figures

Agreed, but your statement implied there were more OM fans at the game than VU fans. It looks more like 70%/30% to me, in Vandy's favor. Which is nothing to be proud of by any means, but it is better than you implied.

No, I think he's pointing out that you were pretty wrong about Ole Miss bringing more fans to Vandy. Vandy's attendance has gotten a lot better in the past few years. They have a ways to go but we have to remember that this is a team that's averaged like 2-3 wins a season for a long time now.

Yes ... the only reason their going to the BBVA compass bowl is because they don't bring a crowd so no bowls want them

Not much help. 75-80% Vandy fans for both games.

As did Kentucky before a decent bowl streak. And we generally traveled well. Well enough that the MCB wanted us back the next season.

Meh, it was an exaggeration but let's not act like the two teams that they got skipped over for would allow that many visiting fans to get into their respective stadiums.
