Me and a few buddies of mine were having a conversion about Urban Meyer and how he left Florida.

What is the general consensus on how you guys feel about Urban Meyer and how he left Florida? Do you actually believe him when he said he was sick and then a year later took the Ohio state job? Just wondering what are your thoughts Gator Nation?

He did a great job at UF but the way he left was a bitch move and he handled the whole situation very poorly. We hired a mercenary and got a couple championships though so I'm happy. But I cheer for him to fail at OSU so this FSU-OSU national championship is almost as bad as the FSU-UT one back in the 90s.

I heard he consulted Tebow about a vison of an eagle and a D1-AA banner and they both thought it was in his best interest to get out of Gainesville.

Guy was a phony douche. I have multiple bans from FL boards because I expressed that opinion while he was at UF. I was correct on all levels.

Generally it seems that UF fans are split about 50/50 on the guy now.

I'll echo what BoomAngry said. I'll always hold a special regard for what he did at UF (much like LSU fans should always be grateful to saban for winning your first title in over 40 years), however, I never cared for him personally. He just has an abrasive personality that really rubbed me the wrong way. Love him for the titles, but it doesn't hurt my feelings he's gone.

And no, I don't buy that he was "sick" then got healthy again and went to OSU. He wanted out but didn't want to just outright quit so he made up the family excuse. "Family"..yet a short time later he was looking into broadcasting then a year later he's at Ohio State. Hmmm

He basically did what Doc Rivers did to the Celtics.

Except he pulled the wanting to be with family stuff.

Loved him at UF. Stories about boosters HATING the guy while hear. Shane Matthews always had negative shite to say. But he was vindicated when Meyer left.

The way he left was a bitch move.

Yep. Understandable. At first I really thought he was sick then I hear he gets the ohio state job. I wonder what made him leave Florida all of a sudden.

The minority (including myself) thinks that boosters had a lot of involvement with it. I don't think too many people liked him, and I don't blame him for the way he left the program.

I also don't think he left ''a sinking ship''. He left us with the #2, #11 and #3 recruiting classes when he left.

The problem with Muschamp is he's just now getting around to understanding that a stable full of spread players don't do well in a pro-style offense. Just a shame he learned so late, it was really football 101.

Well Ohio State is a better job.

It's also easier. The Big is on a slump, and the SEC is getting harder and harder every year. He went in to a program in shambles so there were little to no expectations.

I daresay he's met them.

See Auburn football circa 2012 vs AU football 2013.

The success he had on the field doesn't cover up the damage to the reputation of the program he left due to the character of a large number of the player he recruited while at UF. I would truly give up the championships if the smell he left at UF would go away. Hind sight is 20/20 and I admit to orange and blue glasses when he was our coach but looking back now, we sold our souls to the devil for a couple crystal balls.

Well, we don't have to go that far, but it could have been done the right way.

He wanted to go the Bobby bowden route in CFB and have an easier route. he is weak, and it shows
