Is he waiting to get offered a big time job or is he really our HCIW? If he's not, it's weird he hasn't accepted a HC job yet

I think both. He is being paid enough and young enough to wait

I'm probably in the minority, but I think Kirby could do a good job here. He knows the system, is a helluva recruiter, seems like a very personable guy that would be a great representative of the school.

Same here.

Kinda off topic question here but, if not Kirby as our next coach, who? Assuming Saban left tomorrow (which is obviously not going to happen), who should be Battle's first call?

?
If so SIA.

Would love to get David Shaw but he probably doesn't leave Stanford.

He serves at Saban's leisure.

That is to say that if Saban wasn't happy he wouldn't be there.

coincidentally, I considered a response thread called "will bobby Williams ever leave":

I don't know. The lure of coaching in the SEC, the talent that Saban and staff have stockpiled, the resources that Bama has......

Would be a tempting offer for sure.

Edit: He would also be a PERFECT fit at Alabama as well.

Agree on this.

I'm sure Jimbo would be on the short list.

Shaw would be at the top of my list as well, but a few weeks ago he issued a statement that he planned to be at Stanford for the long haul. Don't know if that was just being PC at the time or not.

I think some coaches are just content being coordinators. Kirby is young and knows he has a long time to go in this profession.

I think Kirby will eventually go on to be the head ball coach somewhere, but he's getting paid over a million and keeps getting offers thrown at him.

Why would he leave? Especially knowing that he will be on the short list when Saban retires or leaves.

He's got it made right now.

He definetly has is made. He won't be on the hot seat, he has job security and making what some lower level head coaches make. If he takes a job and gets canned after a few years, he lessens his income after that for at least a few years.

He has the perfect opputunity to pick and chose his next stop and make sure it's a good one, that's fits his needs.

It is kind of weird. It sort of feels like if he was going to leave he would have already done it.
