If this IS truly meant to be and we make it to the Rose Bowl for our first time ever against Fla St.

1) FSU head coach Jimbo Fisher coached at Auburn and has a lot of prior history in the state of Alabama.

2) Jimbo's top dog recruiter Dameyune Craig who recruited Jameis Winston came back to Auburn this year to join Malzahn's staff as Co Offensive Coordinator / Recruiting Coordinator / WR coach. Craig was our QB in the mid to late 90's running Jimbo's offense and was one hell of a leader. Anyone remember the SECCG against Manning and Tenn? Craig slapped a OL's arse for a flase start if IRC.

Anyone have any other ties to throw in?

No, no, by all means look ahead. I hope all of those 19-20 year old athletes at Auburn are looking ahead, too. Or maybe they're watching replays of the Iron Bowl. As long as they're not watching film on Missouri, I'll be happy.

No kidding. I'm confident AU isn't overlooking Mizzou, not so sure about our fans though.

yea i agree, this is going to be a great game, i'm looking forward to it. But we're just fans, and fans are wont to look for bigger and better things even if they've got a great game staring them down.

This is what you really want.

This is what's not happening.

You left out the Bowden family connection. That's pretty big IMO.

And the fact that the two schools are like 150 miles away from each other.

Because a fan's view on things has a direct impact on the team's performance.

I agree it is dumb to look ahead because you just set yourself up for disappointment, but I am tired of Mizzou fans whining about not getting respect.

3) The meltdown that ensues when Auburn heads to Orlando while 'Bama goes to a BCS bowl.

Could really care less how the bowl games shake out if we lose to Mizzou. We all know that Auburn beating Alabama is bugging you far more than any bowl game scenarios.

Mizzou doesn't get respect because they never actually win anything. If they win on Saturday, that changes. If they lose, it will continue.

Auburn fans...anyone going to melt down if this happens.

We'll be a two loss team behind two sec 1 loss teams. Rational thought leads me to think that this is not only possible but likely, therefore where is the 'meltdown?'

I don't think you'll get all the respect you guys so longingly desire.

Gus is not a young athlete. The question isn't whether or not he is preparing. He doesn't suit up. It's whether or not those young athletes can get their emotions under control enough to properly prepare for Missouri.

I know. I love it.

Still on high from Iron Bowl, looking ahead to national championship game.

In a game with a 3 point spread, somehow everyone has convinced themselves it will be a walk for Auburn.

Absolutely love it
