Saban: Last play of 2005 Capitol One Bowl

Saban made a fundamental mistake playing too many lineman without any speed players on the field to chase the receiver. This reminds me of the 2005 Capitol One Bowl, when he did not have a line of defensive backs near the end-zone at the snap of the ball. My 5 Iowa Brothers in law still like to talk about that game in my presence (last big Iowa win, I remind them).

They won the Orange Bowl in 2009 IIRC

Nah, Saban did not give a crap about LSU that season. He was prepping for the NFL. He had his head up his arse all that year. There was no process back then... He never fully committee to coaching at LSU as he has at Bama. He is a far better coach at Bama than he was at LSU.
