After getting over the loss, realizing that this will be our 5th BCS game appearance in Saban's 7 years here puts things into perspective. This is an unheard of run that is showing no signs of slowing down. Losses happen, but don't worry, this dynasty will keep rolling. We have consistently recruited at the highest level. We have the players, we have the staff, and now we will hopefully have even more fire and passion heading into next season. I think having Malzahn at Auburn will push Saban even harder which is a great thing for us IMO.

As much as I hate to admit it, you are dead on...the IB needs wins like that one, from both AU and Bama. It was definitely heartbreaking to say the least, but in the end it only pushes the legacy of the IB up a few more levels past any other rivalry game being played. For all the reasons you mention, Bama will be better b/c of this loss.

It stings. But it also cements the Iron Bowl as the best rivalry in college sports. They're not going away any time soon so the intensity will only increase. Which is a good thing.

And, let's see how AU handles being the hunted next year. They aren't sneaking up on anyone in 2014.

Alabama fans have been spoiled since 2008.
Your positive perspective is nice, but it is not the only one.

Since 2009, Alabama is 4-5 versus SEC West teams that finish the season ranked.
In order, wins include a 9-4 LSU, 9-4 Mississippi State, 10-3 LSU, and currently 9-3 LSU.
In order, losses include 11-2 LSU, 14-0 Auburn, 13-1 LSU, 11-2 Texas A&M, and currently 11-1 Auburn.
What's your take on that?
We can appreciate the opportunities that Alabama has taken advantage of and enjoy the glory but let's not disregard that 4-5 record.

shite happens against good teams sometimes and we've luckily been able to find our way into the championship game where we proceed to make the opposing team our bitch.

My take on it is that 2 of those losses came in 2010. We just didnt have a GREAT year.

2 of those losses came in NC years, so who gives a frick?

Last Saturday's loss was one where we just couldnt put away the win. We just werent meant to win last Saturday.

People can throw those kind of stats out all they want, but the facts are that we have won 3 NCs in 5 years, and we will probably only end up with one loss this year. I couldnt care less about any other stats. Most schools would kill to have that success.

I ask this out of laziness, but has another team in the BCS era gone to 5 BCS bowls in 7 years? USC maybe?

When you lose a game, you no longer control your destiny. Alabama got the help it needed in 2011 and 2012 to win a national championship. Alabama's resume in 2011 and this year wasn't so strong. Many programs have caught breaks to reach or win a national championship. Alabama has made the most of their opportunities, and the results of the 3 BCS titles speak for themselves.

Ohio State has gone to BCS games from 2006 to 2011 while USC has from 2003 to 2009.

This kind of stat nit-picking is quite pointless.

But my take is that we are actually 9-5 vs. SEC West teams that finish the season ranked. If you are going to try to make a silly point, at least get the stats correct.

Wins:
09 vs. LSU
09 vs. Ole Miss
10 vs. Arkansas
10 vs. Mississippi State
11 vs. LSU
11 vs. Arkansas
12 vs. LSU
13 vs. LSU
13 vs. Texas A&M

Losses:
10 vs. LSU
10 vs. Auburn
11 vs. LSU
12 vs. Texas A&M
13 vs. Auburn

So I will disregard that 4-5 record.

I forget to mention that that was Alabama's record in November.

I will drop the subject and back away from the keyboard.

I've put myself in a negative mood by discussing this.

It just irks me how some people seem to turn a blind eye to certain negatives.

I understand that the 4-5 record versus ranked teams in November is overshadowed by the rest of Alabama's accomplishments, but should it be overlooked?

in essence, what you're saying is.

when bama plays another damn good team, its a toss-up. hmm.......genius, sheer genius. i guess considering the common thread is unacceptable. and that would be bama. bama was damn good this time frame. well, there was that 1 year. but it took how many other teams to make this comparison?
