Please stop calling them “Big” anything.

This is not a knock on JFF or Sumlin both are fine, just no one can overcome that level of mediocrity. Occasionally when no one expects anything they come up with a good non championships season, but when stakes are high they flop every time. Flame all you want A&M Fans it is what it is.

A&M turned a season with a once in a generation playmaker into a 4-4 conference record. It takes a “special” program to do that.

That once in a generation player sucked pretty mightily the last two games.

It's looking like Sumlin is just a more athletic and explosive version of Sherman.

JFF is phoning it in. Waiting on NFL money.

I will remember him as an incredible player on he field. But very selfish and immature on it.

Happy to see Mizzou make it to Atlanta before ATM.

ehhh.

We won it last year, with a BCS.

Im pretty content.

I like underdogs when it does not involve Bama. Mizzou was not getting much attention when they joined. Most Aggies allowed their success last year go to their head. Mizzou kept grinding.

I disagree with this trolling of TAMU, although they are an underperforming program.

Of course, keep in mind that TAMU as it is is somewhat new, so that could change. They're kind of like UGA, they have a ton of resources in a very major state and have a huge student body/alum group, but it hasn't always been like that.

I can definitely agree with the OP. It's tough as hell being an Aggie. Every season that we're expected do great things, we fall flat on our face.

no we arent. for the majority of our history, we were a tiny glorified division 2 school playing in a major conference. in the mid 70s once we were able to actually become a pretty large state school, our program took off and won the SWC 8 times from 1975-1993. weve had a rough 21st century, but people seem to think like we were always this gigantic state university that we are now

Elaborate please. Exactly when, in relatively recent history, have the "stakes been high" about Aggie football? Sad, I admit but nothing comes to mind. We were told before the SEC we wouldn't win at all. So, have some context. Your statement is totally inaccurate.

We do tend to flop on follow-up seasons. At the same time, a little perspective is in order. Not sure it's worth even discussing.

Short term memory loss? 2011 comes to mind. Not saying we were the national title favorite, but we were picked by some people to compete for it. We crashed and burned

That's the perfect example of follow-up season flops.

I think the main problem has been inconsistent recruiting and consistent style/scheme changes on defense over the past 10 years.

You can tell which fan bases have hit their offseason stride already.

Follow-up is the season with expectations. Wasn't the season after that Big XII championship a bad one also?

I guess that's it: 99?, '11 and '13. High pre season expectations. Any other? The rest of the time no one expected much I think.
