$3M will a bunch of incentives. Maybe $3.5.

Not really worried about Gus going anywhere and we will pay him well and take care of him.

3.5; give him much higher incentive payouts though.

Dude is racking up on incentives thus far.

Let's try to be realistic here. As much as I'm enjoying the position we are in, I would like to see some continued success before we throw the bank at him. I'm not saying this season is a fluke, but I would like to see him not following it up with a 6 and 6 7 and 5 type season.

Big bonus is warranted, but NO BUYOUT.

I think 400,000 per win is a good way to go.

If you go 14-0, that is 5.6 million

If you go 3-9, it is 1.2 million WITH NO BUYOUT.

No coach would ever agree to $400,000 per game you win. Ever

Has everyone forgot that we are still paying Chizik?

Knee jerk salary bumps are as bad as knee jerk coaching hires/fires.

I guess our fans learned nothing from the Chizik era. How about letting the guy establish a consistent pattern of success first? He's done an unbelievable job in one year and deserves a ton of credit, but so did Chizik. And they did basically the same way (bringing in ultra-talented JUCO QBs to run the system).

I'm all for giving Malzahn a raise after this season, but $5-6M is ridiculous. I guess next we need to slap a $10M buyout on the guy. JJ's already made the mistake once. The only team in America that would come after Gus dangling $5-6M in front of him right now is Texas, and I highly doubt they're gonna come after Malzahn.

Gus may or may not prove to be wildly successful over time here, but we haven't won any championships yet. Let's give him a few years first.

Classic kneejerk.
