Every keeps saying they have nothing to lose and coming off a winless SEC campaign last year, I'm pretty sure we all though Auburn would have nothing to lose in the Iron Bowl back in August. But that's really not so anymore. So I present what Auburn has to lose.

On the Line for Auburn.

Beating Bama. That is plastered on their wall, even if Auburn had a predicted win one lose one season this would still be big. Heck, in that event it would have been a carbon copy of the 2009 IB. Upending Bama's title hopes are on the line. In the event of a Crimson victory Alabama would have a 3 game win streak (longest since the early 90s), 3 game streak in JHS and 5 of the last 6 overall and move to 5-7 on the plains.

A Trip to Atlanta. Be it AU or UA, the west champion will be a heavy favorite over which ever cripple emerges from the east.... the Iron Bowl is almost for the SEC.

A BCS Bowl - The Victory would also ensure a trip to a BCS game, what a way to follow such a miserable season.

An Outside Shot a the National Championship - FSU and Ohio State would now only stand in their way. Both have Championship games to get through too. Odds aren't good, but if one stumbles, suddenly Auburn is headed to Pasedena.

Everything in addition to a 10 win season with a 1st year coach is gravy. Don't get me wrong it is going to suck to lose just like it sucked to lose any other year, but to present it like the bulk of the pressure in on AU is crazy...

Forgetting everything that is on the line, AU has a lot to play for. First and foremost AU should be playing for pride and self respect after getting embarrassed the past 2 years.

There's significant pressure on both teams

The bulk is most certainly not on Auburn. EVERYONE and their grandma already knows what is on the line for Bama, it's be a waste of time to type it all. But it's foolish to think Auburn is happy with their season and going to coast from here as anything more is just icing on the cake.

Taking into consideration how many season tickets your fans buy plus add to the fact your fans would drive down the day of the game, bring a sack lunch and jump back into the truck after the game and drive home I'm sure the people that run the Sugar Bowl and business in New Orleans would really look forward to that.

I guess I'm foolish.

I know the players and coaches don't share that opinion, but I'll disappointed for exactly 2 seconds after the game if we drop this one.

We're not acting like Auburn has no interest in winning. But, if I was forced to pick who has pressure to win the game, I'd pick Bama for all the reasons you already recognize.

Now, in saying that, I'm not saying I think Bama is going to be impacted by the pressure, I just think there is more there.

If AU loses, especially in respectable fashion, we wake up in the same Saban-world we've lived in for a few years. But we've still got some momentum and a really good season for the program under our belt.

If AU wins, the status quo is over. It doesn't mean AU has taken the crown as the best program away from bama, but it's definitely a change in the rivalry dynamic, and perhaps the overall SEC dynamic, at least for the near term.

You're right. AU fans wouldn't hang out in NO prior/after the game.

Bama has pressure on them...BUT...they has pressure on them LAST season to repeat. How did that turn out again?

As for dealing with pressure, this team should be able to handle it pretty well because most on the team have "been there, done that". The real question is, can Auburn handle the pressure of this game? Especially knowing what's at stake with a win?

True, I don't know how pressure in this game is any different from say.... playing #1 Notre Dame for all the marbles or playing a dangerous Georgia team in Atlanta or the biggest game ever played at Kyle Field as the circled team vs a Heisman QB.

Heck, it's when the pressure is off that Alabama comes out like a wet blanket.

In 2010, Alabama was firmly out of the title race and most pressure was lifted other than, beat Auburn... and they got deflated big time.
