I took a wander over to a bad Hog board against my better judgement and found out they want Nutt back because he wasn't "this bad" and would have won at least 3 more games this year with this talent.

God I hope I have enough lava soap to get clean after reading all that.

Right? Wouldn't you rather be like Kentucky or the old bad Vandy teams and just be a fan and have fun wearing the colors than having Nutt back and going 5-7? Is it really that much more fun?

I don't know if I want to infect the board. This is one of the last bastions of sanity.

These are probably the same people who think we would win 10+ games with this roster if a clown car showed up to the hill and Petrino and his crew rolled out.

I hate it that we suck, believe me. But in college football you have to be able to ride the roller coaster. I'm a hardcore MLB fan as well, and I expect more stability in professional sports because of the control one has over its roster and its players being eligible to play.

Sometimes I feel the people in Arkansas don't realize it's a crap shoot with 17 year old high school kids, seeing how many can stay on campus and eligible, and seeing how many stay for a full 4 years. If you swing wild at a high draft pick at an 18 year old in MLB and miss, you can make that up in free agency. In college, that sets you back a season or two.

No, they do not realize this, but we are not the only fanbase that has this problem.

On one hand recruiting rankings are the only thing that matters when we suck, but they do not matter and its the talent evaluation and development by the coaches that does when we are winning.

The truth, as it often is, is in the middle. Fanbases tend to be irrational and bi-polar as a whole.

True. You know, they always say that 'access to information' is one of the things that helps to push societies forward and make them better.

It's one reason dictatorships, fascists, and communists all attempt to control access to information. It normally helps the society move forward and improve themselves.

In our case, sometimes I think that access to information has hurt our state more than it has helped. I feel like we have a lot of people that should have been left cut off from the world. If they didn't know who was ranked as the 3rd best deep snapper in the state of Maryland, they would be able to temper themselves better and remain mellow.

Admittedly, I've gone through various phases today, but I NEVER though "You know, Hootie could have done better."
