So What Did Richt Say To Wagers

“People enjoy that when I get mad: ‘Get mad, coach,’” said Richt, who added that the flag came after his confrontation with referee Penn Wagers when the coach turned and another official was there.
“I got as close to his face as I could, and I said ‘You guys are the best officials in the Southeastern Conference,’” Richt said. “And Penn threw the flag. I think if he’d heard what I said he might not have thrown it. But I think he thought I was continuing on with my opinion of what happened.”

i find it amazing that this was his first penalty as a coach.
it's either truly impressive or a bit concerning. Not sure which.

When people who don't get mad often do end up getting mad it is way more scary to me than someone who is constantly mad. I can understand why they were frightened by his anger.

Penn Wagers is a bastard for throwing that flag against that man. I suspect there is a special place in hell for refs that throw flags against Richt.

Richt had pretty good reason to be mad there. It happened literally right on front of him. I also think that this was the breaking point of a season of frustration with officials.

Mark Richt has lost control of Mark Richt

Why not post the rest of his comments?
Richt knew where the line was, knew he crossed it, and probably did it on purpose to fire up the team. Smart coach....
quote:
"I'm not allowed to say much about officiating. I guess the flag was an indication of how I'd been feeling about things for awhile," Richt said. "And I'll say this too: If we're really, really honest, and we're totally unbiased, when you watch film there's some things that we do that probably should've been holding called against us. Or should've been, this that or the other.
I guarantee you, as many slices of film we're showing the officials about what we think should have been in our favor, there's just as many that should've been against us.
It just feels like it's been a little bit more against us this year then normal."

Taking a 15 yard penalty when your opponent is having his way with your defense? Not very smart IMHO. I don't think Richt did it on purpose to fire up the Dawgs, I think he just lost his cool and it cost his team.

I was really hoping that all of the Arkansas fans would have all killed themselves by now...how disappointing you are still posting here. Go die please and take your shite hole state/football team with you.
LOL making fun of our "fat" coach when yours literally looks like he has 24/7 beer bloat.
frick off.

Then you'd probably be wrong.

He is right there. Its funny how acc officials call 4 holds and 3 chop blocks against uga week one, and sec officials have not called that many of either in all other games combined. Conference officials are a plague on cfb.

Richt is a good coach and coaching UGA is killing him. The stress this year is showing physically and mentally. I did not see him smile on time during the game. He has been the one coach in the league that seemed to have his priorities in order, these last two years seem different. He needs a new beginning somewhere.

At that point I don't think it really mattered. Everything was going Auburn's way and that terrible call was the last straw. Besides it looked like the ref was losing his cool as well. Luckily the Dawgs got a make-up call with Murray's TD run later on.

He said it to the side judge. Penn just overheard. If you can read lips, you can clearly decifer "Don't you f$&%ing touch me."
