Listening to the Roundtable on WJOX yesterday and a guy said that James Franklin was the highest paid coach in the state of Tennessee. Hard to believe that the Vandy job pays more than being the head coach of the Titans.

Vols are broke. All they can afford is the box set of the Brian Kelly spin-off show.

Vandy certainly has the money to make this happen. But I did not know that we paid better than the Titans. Then again, the way the Titans are playing I should have guessed.

Vandy actually has a great ath dept. private school, and a ton of cash. Not hard to believe. UT is not really know for their school.

? At one point, I think the ath dept had to take a Lon from the school, or something like that.

I don't think it was a loan, but the school allowed them to not make their yearly payments for about 3 years.

Dave Hart has talked numerous times about UT's finances being terrible compared to Alabama when he switched jobs.

I think Vandy got rid of the athletic dept. In 2003. Only big time school I can think of without one.

They recreated it after Gordon Gee left. David Williams is the AD.

I thought Vandy didn't release what they paid their coaches since they're a private school and salary numbers for them were just guess-timations

I still think the structure is set up totally different than most athletic department. Seems to be a pretty effective model.

Despite the announcement, the athletics department will stay dissolved and continue to grapple with other colleges and departments at Vanderbilt for funding. But Williams will serve as the primary fundraiser for athletics.
